9498, 04 Sep 2018This is the phone I hope to upgrade from Samsung Note 4 whi... moreThe thing is, LG camera has never be good. Yes, having super wide angle is nice. But the main cameras never produces nice photos comparing to other flagships. Noise level is also higher comparing to others for low light photos when in auto mode.

I hope it will have a small notch like the OnePlus 6, and that it will have the same notch on the bottom.
Two notches, symmetrical. Each housing a good front camera, ambient sensor, and a earpiece. But the earpieces are actually front-firing stereo loudspeakers like the Axon7. This means you can use the phone any direction, there's no upside or downside. And it can be more symmetrical if the rear fingerprint reader is right in the centre... then having the volume rocker, power button, camera button, and ThinQ button all opposable at the right side... then putting the headphone jack and USB C in the middle of the phones left side (see RoG Phone).
This throws the question of where to put the rear cameras. Put them in the centre line at the back, one on the left and the other on the right. Make both cameras high-quality (ala Pixel) with wide-angle lens able to record 3D photos/videos and 360' Livestream in conjunction with the front cameras.
Voila! All done. Perfect phablet and Gaming Phone.

Even though the unlocked V30 that I used on T-Mobile had awesome battery life with the 3,300 mAh battery, I'm disappointed that LG isn't increasing the battery. No one ever complains about a larger battery in phones, especially now that Samsung has put a 4,000 mAh battery in the Note 9. I also loved the quad DAC from the V30, but I had to sell the phone because of the terrible radios.
I was never able to get full bars of reception at home, where I'm exclusively on Wi-Fi. The modem is even in the area that I spend the most time, and I still wouldn't get full bars. When I was outdoors, in poor coverage areas, I'd get no signal. My Nexus 6P still has a couple bars. Also, the radio app was useless for me, because most of my local radio stations in NYC would come in static. LG really needs to improve the antennas on the V40.
LG also needs to refresh the UI, especially if the V40 is coming with Android Pie. The colors are ugly. LG Smart World is a joke. It's no where near as comprehensive as Samsung's theme store. There are almost no themes, and whatever is there looks childish. I know there are themes in the Play Store, but if I wanted my phone to look like a Pixel, I would just buy a Pixel. I'm bored with stock Android. I want to be able to cudtomize my phone the way I want.
If a Samsung phone had the same battery life as the V30, the same quad DAC, and a wide angle lens camera, that would be my dream phone. Once you hear music with the quad DAC and a good pair of high impedance headphones, you won't be able to listen to music any other way. It's THAT good. My Nexus 6P is aging. The way I see it, my choices to upgrade next year are between the LG V40, The Note 9 (or S10+), and the Huawei Mate 20/20 Pro. Either that, or I'll just wait for the crop of phones that will be 5G capable.

This is the phone I hope to upgrade from Samsung Note 4 which was a good phone except for mediocre audio quality and mediocre phone speak loudness.
I think, LG V40 (like xon ZTE 9 pro) should have quick charge 4.0+ and qi wireless charge or correct me if V40 already has/will have them.
Why V40 ?
- best or very good audio phone
- good display (IPS is not good for 2018+)
- 3x optic zoom
- radio is a bonus
- fast charge 3.0 which samsung note 9 does not have... LOL
- durable : MIL-STD-810G compliant - check the LG V30 durability videos
- camera is very good and has WIDE ANGLE
- good recent feedback people who used V20, V30 or G7 loved their phones
- has the bonuses over NOTE 9 and 200 EUR cheaper... really nice..

W, 03 Sep 2018Do you really think a phone with 6.3 inches and qhd screen ... moreThe Galaxy Note 8 did, so it's possible with the right power management.
For instance, we have the Xperia XZ2 with 3180mAh battery powering a FHD+ HDR IPS LCD display at 5.7" size, and an endurance rating that's even better than the Galaxy S9.

Anonymous, 03 Sep 2018The 3.5mm jack is NOT REMOVED due to the article mentioning... moreIt only say Quad DAC,
Also it possible to have a dedicated DAC while ditching the 3.5mm jack, how you ask?
Well, not all earphone dongle are active one, there also the cheaper passive bunch which direct audio signal from the phone built in DAC that have been wired to a pin in the USB-C
In short, USB-C can indeed direct either digital signal or analog signal
But, of course there are some phone out there that don't have the built-in DAC wired to the usb for some reason, so only active dongle then(and cheap active dongle is terrible)
