Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 possibly benchmarked, matches Apple's A11 Bionic

03 September 2018
A test device running an upcoming Snapdragon chipset has managed to reach a similar multi-core score to Apple's SoC.

The naysayers are dissing the Xiaomi Pocophone for this reason as the IPhone has NFC, but like you said no Bluetooth

This Qualcomm chip is 100 % laptop /PC
Microsoft no longer manufacturers phones on any level.
The App store apps are not being updated by third party, and the Windows OS also is not being updated indeed fixes are few and far between

The involvement of Microsoft in this collaboration is not phone related as the Lumia 950 & 660 were released in late 2015 i.e 3 years ago

Qualcomm presumably will make a bigger announcement if it is phone related

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2018They still can't match Apple's single core power. I mean... moreIt's not the engineers. It's the accountants. Apple chips are faster because the cores are bigger. That's it. I thought this was fairly common knowledge; Anandtech has mentioned it many times. The cores in Apple A-series chips are physically almost twice the size of Snapdragon cores, and they tend to have larger caches, as well. Qualcomm could easily do this as well, but they sell to third parties, who tend to be sensitive to cost, whereas Apple doesn't care if their SoCs are more expensive, because they're going in high-margin iPhones. That's literally the difference. Qualcomm's chips are actually probably better engineered, they just can't totally ignore cost like Apple can.

lacp, 04 Sep 2018What is that PS Vita has of so special for not to be full e... moreThe "special" thing about PS Vita emulation is that it hasn't been fully cracked/hacked yet, so we don't know how the code compiles under the hood. So we can't make an emulator yet. However, the PS Vita is obsolete since Sony has abandoned it long ago. So it won't be too long until its cracked and a WinOS emulator is made (requiring a 8700k/GTX 1050).

Wii emulation is pretty good, especially on the OnePlus 6 and low-demanding titles. There's still some titles that struggle (Xenoblade Chronicles) and some devices that struggle (LG G7). So that's why the QSD 860 would be helpful.

Btw I just noticed this leak has the single-core performance basically on-par/equal to the old Apple A10 processor. Whereas the multi-core performance is roughly double. Just remember the A10 has x2 cores, and this has x4 cores... so it looks like in 2019 Qualcomm's catching upto Apple from 2017. Yikes!

AnonD-731363, 04 Sep 2018A12 will be twice as fast as A11 Qualcomm again failed. Only in CPU, A11 GPU is still weaker than Adreno 630. Not to mention in compound benchmark like AnTuTu A11 is only on Kirin 970 level, even goes down to SD660 level when thermal throttling comes into play.

5T, 04 Sep 2018Are benchmarks still a thing in 2018?I guess so, but at the high end, it's getting out of handle where hardware manufacturers keep releasing devices with power software developers can't maximize yet. Not a bad thing, though. This could mean in a few years, you can buy a flagship of 3 or even 4 years ago with entry level price while still being able to provide adequate performance that might outperform actual entry level device on that year.

Ok... Who wants a phone thats blazing fast the first day and lags so much a year later. Again benchmarks is not reliable anymore.

These metrics mean little. SD845 in OnePlus 6 beats in real life speed tests the iphone X with it's "superior" A11.

Anyone who praises Apple should just watch YouTube and see how iPhone lags behind top Androids regarding launching speed of daily-use apps. (iPhone is only good at gaming)
Personally real usage matters more than paper scores

Are benchmarks still a thing in 2018?

Wonder how will android run on A11

They are comparing apples with cookies.
I bet the difference amongst chips are insignificant and are mostly OS based. It is normal for a closed, single task OS, to perform better on it's only purpose, than a multi task one ...
For the measurements to be fair, both chips should be tested on a third OS

4 years ago Snapdragons were much powerful than Apple devices, but real life performance(opening apps, battery life,...) was comparable and sometimes even better than Snapdragons. Now Apple chipsets are in theory better, but real life it is not comparable!
