Will will happen to foldable smartphone is just like what had happen to 3D smartphone it's very hot in at the beggining and very cold in the last. Consumer will not appreciate it so much since its only foldable nothing extra purpose.

Now all Samsung flagship will be foldable. Just like with fragile curved screen that annoys you with glares: they do not offer flat screen alternative.

All the big boys don't use it and they never will because they will release full displays without those horrible NOtches.
Like it or not, the NOtch is DEAD!

Rather than a fail which people wants just out of a blue they should focus on updates and prices compared to specs.
I know Samsung is no Xiaomi but imagine a Note 9 with price of a Pocophone.

          Boring!
I've been seeing and reading about this since Galaxy S3 2012.
Either release it already or go home and stop threatening us with fake news.
Either way, I don't think I'd enjoy a foldable phone if it's weight is too low. I like my phones to be a bit rigid and heavy.
But I do believe that foldable displays could bring a lot of innovation in the car industry or medical services.
Hurry up Sammy, before the chinese copy/paste it before you :))

LG Superfan, 04 Sep 2018Great just hope its becomes mainstream as quickly as those ... moreIt depends on the design concept. The notches spread like wild fires though it's really a bad design.

I hope we will see designs more in the direction of accessible screen->2Xaccessible screen, instead of the design shown in the attached photo of not accessible screen-> screen.

This screen folded on the inside is just horrible.

AnonD-762416, 04 Sep 2018So, your main enjoyment from driving is the thrill of maybe... moreI also enjoy driving and have for a few decades, no serious road incidents, no breakdowns but yes met a few idiots on the road.
I can't see how driverless cars will reduce accidents once they become more widely usaged by general public, I mean a driverless car is still programmed by humans, has to deal with all manner of weather, surface types, sudden events, etc

electric and driverless isn't fully green yet nor is it fully safe, what I think should definitely happen is driving tests become a lot hard, more drawn out so you learn every weather type, skid situations, surface differences, stress situations etc
And regardless of how good people think they are we should all take regular / semi regular reaction, eyesight , common sense , etc tests and a ban on the licence should be permanent, not just for a short fixed time...I am speaking as someone who loves driving all types of vehicles but also someone who has lost family members to drunk drivers as well as friends being idiots in their own cars.

so yes driverless eventually will be great but it's not as perfect as people make out just yet

About time some new design is released after years of boring old rectangular phones which does basically the same things. A $200 phone can function 90% of an iPhone X, companies making loads of cash by hyping up their products to the majority of dumb consumers.

Oh snap! (Well, technically not, but...)
If they manage to keep this one all out of the greasy fingers of Mr. Blurrycam all the way up until launch I will be impressed.

redmanul, 04 Sep 2018But why? Why? Because you could have a phone sized device that folds out to a tablet sized device.

You "why" crowd really gets on my nerves tbh. think about it for 4 seconds and you would understand why.

Bet you are against driverless cars too

Going with the current phones sizes, no wonder they need to be foldable just to fit in our pocket.

This is awesome. It will definitely be ridiculously expensive at first, but when the price of foldable phones drops I'd love to get one.
