I'd like to believe people are largely indifferent towards the notch. Sure the online community hates it, and there are people out there who hate it as well, but we've kind of accepted it as a trend that's bound to continue for a year or two, until an effective solution is figured out.
I personally own the OnePlus 6 and haven't found the notch to be bothersome at all. It surely did stand out initially but it really feels non-existent right now. And if it bothers you that much, there's always the option to disable it through software.

Most people I know - in real life - hate the notch (only one notch user I know of) and most even picked older phones to avoid it, and the apple fans did not buy the iPhone X, except for that one guy, and stuck with iPhone 8 or switched to Android.
