And now in 2021, I still prefer to have a physical QWERTY keyboard on a smartphone. I never like typing using a touch screen keyboard, so having a physical keyboard, especially for typing documents, is so much more satisfying and more precise. Also with a physical keyboard, you can easily do keyboard shortcut. Try to do that with an on-screen touch keyboard!

now BB is the only company offering sub 5" screens! A huge advantage over EVERY other company.

I had the Blackberry Bold 9700 and 9900 and then used an iPhone after. But when the Key2 was released, I have to go back to Blackberry and I have no regrets!!!!

i've never own any BB device. but, for me maybe the bset solution for BB is not releasing a device with all touchscreen and android OS. stick to full QWERTY keyboard and their own BBOS, so maybe one day they're will be loved again. like this day smartphone design getting boring with anything the same, with BB and full QWERTY keyboard and their own BBOS maybe ppl will considered the BB device again.

Izzie, 09 Sep 2018I had many Blackberry phones but the 9900 was a favourite o... moreI loved mine so much I bought another one! As I traded my first one for another phone at my provider due to many bugs, battery drain and short outs on the network.
And my data quota would empty in one day for some unknown reason they could not solve.
I was one of the first to buy the 9900 after the release and there was no software updates.
Only Canada and the UK was first to get their devices before Europe.
I think I got three firmware updates during the time I had it but that took a while until BB started to send out any update.
Mine works and all those bugs are solved today but the battery don't so I have to buy a new one for it.
The only accessory I'm missing is the desktop dock for the pogo pins on the bottom.
Its a rare item you find only once every few months on sale at ebay.
My god I miss those old days when phones was this good.
Not these boring notch screens and 18:9 aspect ratio that everyone adopts..

I would buy every phone they make - but they are just 100-200€ too expensive. A keyboard shouldn't raise the price as high. There's no reason for it. Hopefully the priv2 won't be 850€+ that's just hillarious for average specs, bad cameras, but brilliant keyboard.

IMO, BlackBerry should tie up with motorola or htc or nokia to provide a quality phone with quality secured software to offer to the public..to compete with camera and gaming features of the other brands.offer midrange device with security and quality cam and security with good gaming and highend devices having security,quality cam,quality gaming xp..provide full touch screen,and size 5.5 inches to 6.0 inches variant..remove the sd card slot provide higher gb of internal..also the battery life make it stable and longer life..just bought a dtek60 a week ago and love it just scared regarding the drain of battery..i bought it because it is now price comparable to a midrange china phone..why will i buy a midrange china phone or a midrange known brand if i can buy a BB with security and spec comparable or.higher than that price point..

BlackBerry was not killed by the touchscreen. They were killed by their inability to adapt to them.

Used Z3 once, amazing piece of hardware and software. Gestures were amazing, never felt I had to learn those. Camera was fine, battery was amazing to. But had to part ways with the phone as WhatsApp stopped support for it.

A new successor to the priv with latest flagship specs, better cameras, improved keyboard ergonomics and a bezel less full 1440p OLED screen with dual speakers would be killer

The original BBOS v4.0 for Storm was very buggy. Later updates refined the system and made the phone darn good and highly usable, but by then it was too late for many people.
The Storm had a moving touchscreen! You couldn't just touch it to type, you had to physically depress the screen and wait for it to pop back before typing the next character. I imagine most people just preferred a straight-forward capacitive touchscreen instead of the innovative Storm "physical keyboard" screen.
I personally like the Storm. There was nothing...NOTHING... like it, ever before or since. I still use a Storm for music, videos, and typing notes. There was a Storm 2, but typing was very tiring on it; Storm 1 was easier.

Ruce, 09 Sep 2018According to whom?To me. The Key2 may not be perfect, but for getting down to work it's a lot better than phones like the iPhoneX. I can type out a message quickly, accurately and without concern that autocorrect is going to change something I typed correctly into something insensible. Simple and complex emails are completed efficiently instead of wasting time reviewing every-single-word. The camera could be better, the screen needs an overhaul but I've taken it over all of the competitive devices out there.

The company was not innovating at the speed at which android and IOS was going, so it was edged out of the market.

They were never the king of keyboards, just most sold I guess. Motorola's keyboards are superior also because BB persisted in portrait mode keyboards. Swype is awfull and will never be faster since it's just typing with one finger against two fingers with fysical keyboard. it's also dumb cuz if I delete a word that is completely out of context and not where I swyped to, it still gives the exact same word just deleted when trying again, waste of time.

Blackberry is and will continue to remain the king of keyboard.Yes,the majority,wants touchscreen keyboard,but the physical keyboard is more precise to type.By the time to transition on Android,they lost some moment,but they still have force to start ,now as a new company,software and security.Their devices are not for everyone,because they are consider a niche product.The target people are proffessional,law firm,medical field,government agencies,and physical keyboard lovers.Also now their devices are the most secure android on the market,and this is the main reasons why those people want Blackberry,because first they want the software and security.Also the company now focused on the smart of the smartphone,and not just the phone itself,because the phone itself is a satured concept.Now with TCL,they are doing the best possible which they controll the design of the software and TCL manage the controll of the hardware.I was a BB fan since student,and i have 4 BB phones since 2012,the Bold 9000,9900,DTEK 50,and i'm typing on the Keyone.Overall,i think they have a great future,as a software and security company,and they still have their word on the smartphone market.Thank you.
