OK LOOK, this isnt the first time GSMarena called feature phones DUMB phones; ive seen them in alot of past posts, no matter if its nokia, samsung or any other brand.. They call them DUMB phones coz its an acronym for SMART phones get it??!?! Geez you guys are overly sensitive coz its a NOKIA phone.. No one ever reacted like this when they called the other feature phones DUMB PHONES before.. so get a grip FFS!

Anonymous, 26 Oct 2011looks like nokia is recycling their phone like c5 > c5 5... moreboy, i miss them. i still have to use my k810i for xenon flash, all the camera phones now being nightblind, god knows what is with those fancy led flash. i think i will buy a feature phone.....oops, dumbphone one day and buy a digital cam for 100$. maybe it will be a better combo. what say, eh?

Dumb phones are phones without any serious software support.
"Asha", yes it means hope...
GSMArena guys seem so unsure saying "something along the line of hope"? What was that my friends? :D

And guys, a big processor also helps for single tasks like playing music, downloading e-mail, recording videos and images...
So, Nokia must be aiming to be really fast while opening music/ video players, decoding and playing videos, and specially taking pics.
iPhone 4S takes a pic in 1.1 seconds let me tell you...
RAM is more relevant to multitasking than processor.

Dude, there's only 2 types of phone. That is smartphone and dumb phone or feature phone. I think dumb phone is an accepted term for phones that does not run a proper OS.

Dumb phone is the other name for feature phones as they are dumb considered to the other category, smart phones. And not what you geniuses think it is.
By the way whats the use of 1ghz clockspeed in a no- multitasking, max java file size as 2mb, s40 dumb phone?
My x2 is the same os as these idiotic launches and it doesnt need any magic numbers to perform.
I thought nokia will strike back, well this is utmost dissapointing. This is nirasha and not asha.
These phones are plain stupid compared to my sony cedar too. That too is dumb phone, but the smart one among the category with multitasking, open-os, changeable drivers, unlimited java size, unlimited heap size. The phone even got .srt subtitle playback option with video. Can you believe it. And it costs the same as my x2 and got 3.5G too. Thats the smartest dumb if you ask me. And not the dumbest dumb like these nothing new, good for nothing nirasha series.
I hope nokia will be the king back again with their linux based 'meltemi os' replacement for the foolish s40 os.

All people including gsmarena, who used a phone 11 years back, was surely using so called dumbphones. Love high end phones. But please, don't bash the feature phones. I have so many friends of mine who wish to have a phone with normal specs. And they are not dumb.

You Nokia fans always like taking to the street any time you perceive something unfavorable being said about Nokia. Dumb or future phone is a generic term used to refer to phone from any manufacturer that is not powdered by a smart OS. It's not a question of being as solid as brick.

I think by dumb phone, he meant.. non-smart phones. Asha300 is beast, it's pretty much C3-01 except, 20 Euros cheaper, and without the Wi-Fi

yeah phones have feelings too..:( it's not proper to call them dumb even if you know they're dumb same with people. i can still remember the first time i talked with my dumbphone and i was surprised that it answered back and i was like geez they're not so dumb after all!
