That happened in a flagship, (Not a samsung fb, but I do like their product) and the Infinity Display's are the best looking screens to date.
I don't really follow the mid range market as I don't care for them but what product improvements happen through mid range phones? Are they not the culmination of left over pieces thrown together to make a cheaper (cheaper is the wrong word).... less expensive option to stay with that brand?
Your right, the design of the smart phone was stale (until Samasung used the Infinity Display) but what is Hauwei doing to not look like the other phones (other than that ridiculous red on the p20 pro)? I can't tell any of the 'asian market' phones apart by looks alone.
And recently I can't judge people by using an iPhone due to clone phones. LOL.

A smartphone should be about... more8inch display for gaming (online role play) is little bit small 10inch would be better. Yes 5 to 5.5 inch is still perfectly as a phone size but rolled up or foldable screen would change this minimum requirement.
IMO the weight can be settled by separate the display and the controller. The controller would be an accessory The display could be a projector display or 3 wrapped foldable display.
Play game with professional support would be better instead compromise on some spec and hardware limitations.

Thats not a phone.
A smartphone should be about 5-5,5 inch screen tops.
A gaming phone should have all the peripheral advantages for gaming, addon controlers with extra controller screens, better miracast, strong wifi antenna, 5g, etc...but not that big a screen.
Handheld consoles or gaming tablets are for 6 inch and above screens perhaps.

Huawei like Apple we're making devices work on maximum only on benchmark apps because if they are working on maximum all the time is not good for battery life.

"First big redesign in years"? Someone clearly doesn't know much about Sony.
2013: introduction of Omnibalance
2016: introduction of Loop Surface, which was completely different (and not a Sony design at all, actually a copy of Lumia 920 and Xiaomi Mi 3)
2018: introduction of Ambient Flow, which is basically Omnibalance with rounded back
2018: a small redesign of Ambient Flow in XZ3.

Heck htc even released a stereospeaker midranger here, Sony a hires sound enabled midranger...
Good enough for me.
Those flagships today are turning to nonsense through time, as there are no ideas anymore, just copycat irrelevant stuff or ridiculous designs from one another.
There pops out a feature here and there that Id like to have, but not worth the money anymore, IMO.
I was prone to buying older flagships before, but them are all the same, cutting out sound feats and giving ovoid edged screens or notches, even two years back....so buying midrangers seem a better solution today.
