Alien , 09 Sep 2018Why are you people so obsessed with mid-range smartphones?!... moreNot all people can buy expensive products. :)
Also, midrange phones are getting better and cheaper.

Alien , 09 Sep 2018Why are you people so obsessed with mid-range smartphones?!... moreBecause people have different preferences when it comes to buying phones.
Also, these days many mid-rangers offer important features that are missing in flagships. For example, most mid-rangers still have 3.5mm jack & strong Metal/Poly-carbonate bodies which are very important features for certain people.

Also, Huawei always uses their own SoCs rather than Quallcomm ones (there are few exceptions in the past, but not as of recent AFAIK).

Alien , 09 Sep 2018Why are you people so obsessed with mid-range smartphones?!... moreHow long will 2+ years old flagship be supported on updates ? If i buy flagship then i buy it as a new cause it will get updates then for longer period. While if i would buy a flagship that is 2+ years old then it's same like middle range or budget phone that will get 1 major Android update maybe and some period of time of security updates.
First thing is that you need to understand why you need new phone and for what you use it for. If i dont play games or take lots of pictures then even under 100 euro phone that has SD435 in it will be more then enough for me.
While i play one game on my phone then i needed a bit more powerful hardware so i went with Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 AI that has SD636 and cost me only 170 euro that i bought out on day one. I dont like to leash anything and everything that cost under 1000 euro is something you should buy out on day one and not leash it 24 months minimum.
Can you at least explain me what you can do on a flagship phone that you cant do on a budget phone ? If you dont play games or take pictures. What is the thing you cant do on them, that you can on flagship ?

Alien , 09 Sep 2018Why are you people so obsessed with mid-range smartphones?!... moreBecause nowadays, it ain't worth paying top prices for not even that much better package.
2 year old flagships still cost even more than today's mid rangers, at least some of them are.
For example, the Nokia 7 Plus is what I consider to be the perfect mid range phone, especially with $300 price tag. OnePlus 6 at $600 doesn't have any essentially better hardware other than the AMOLED screen and SD845 (Pocophone F1 is there for performance, SD660 is plenty capable still otherwise).

It sounds impossible, but I really wish the XA2 Plus would be around $300 at max. By then, it would be a killer mid ranger, which has flagship grade camera and even Hi-Res audio! (no mid range phone actually puts emphasis on audio).

[deleted post]Why are you people so obsessed with mid-range smartphones?! I would never buy one of those.
I'd rather get last year's or even 2 years ago best flagship from Samsung or Sony and still have a better product than the latest so called best mid-range phone.

Best midranger, the thermal heater Honor Play lmao.
Think they'll cover phones that meltdown or pop a battery seam after being pushed too hard by a gamer, yeah that's what I think too not likely.
How can they be taken seriously anymore ffs.

Sigh, I hope one of them will really start the flagship features (not only Samsung's A series). If Huawei's Nova series will have at least a flagship camera with USB C, Fast charge, and decent price, it will sell like hotcakes.

Anonymous, 09 Sep 2018All the top 3 companies are cheaters lol, its nothing new Yeah I know. But ranking them from the most ignorant to least ignorant, it would be Apple then Samsung then Huawei.
Besides, nobody even cares about marketing anymore. Except for presence to people of course. As long as the phone works fine, all the GPU Turbo, Infinity Display, Retina HD Display, all those bullsh*t ain't no matter no more to most of the consumers.
Huawei is reigning supreme because they offer excellent phones at any price category. From their reasonable budget phones to their impressive mid rangers all the way to mind-blowing flagships (the P20 Pro at least).

Geric.770, 09 Sep 2018I bet Huawei will start the flagship cameras in midrange ph... moreRight. Mid rangers still have the image quality of 2014 flagship phones, when in fact, they should be on par with 2016 flagships already.
And I wonder why nobody implements OIS for mid rangers at least. I mean, it seems as if only Asus really cares for the cameras in mid range phones. If not OIS, then why not some good EIS rather? If it's still too much, then 4K video recording would be nice; after all, budget SoCs like SD625 can already do it, and there's no way that more powerful ones like MediaTek Helio P60 and Kirin 710 can't, especially on Snapdragon 636, 660, and 710.

They love to start the photography trend on smartphones.
And yeah, sensors are still small. I hope one of the companies will put something bigger that would change the game.

Brazen Beef, 09 Sep 2018Why aren't cheaters punished? Huawei's the worst offender b... moreBecause Huawei has become so big now, that they could easily win any lawsuit that will be filed against them.
The only way to beat the cheaters is by boycotting their products, and it would only be possible with our own power of choice.
Another is by making it a big deal, enough to urge them to stop doing it.

At this point, I kind of don't really need the best camera phone anymore. Not until something like the P20 Pro or XZ2 Premium's camera becomes the base standard for a flagship smartphone camera.
Honestly I can't imagine what makes it impossible for OEMs to provide at least a decent 1/2.8" sensor even for budget phones like my Redmi 5 Plus. Like, come on, we should start progressing!
Thanks to Huawei and Sony, if not for them, maybe in 2020, flagships would still have the same old 1/2.55" sensor without 720p@960fps super slow motion video recording capability. It's about time that one would show the big dogs that they shouldn't stop at some point.
