Well, I think this is okay. Hands down, Sony produces quality products and great innovation. Now that they have the full control on the switch, customers can now expect more unique handset, (well, sony ericsson ever since had been unique with the designs/features)
Asia will be ruling the mobile phone industry.
HTC - Taiwan
Samsung and LG - Korea
now.. move, and give way..
SONY of Japan, is now here! Lets see how will they shake the Market!

The biggest grip with sony has always been that they are slightly behind on tech trends. They dont clain to have the highest clockspeed but ehir phone have always been quality and useful for a long life period. This buy will let sony be more like samsung/HTC (hopefully is just the good ways) as in the will get the new processors faster.

I think it's a good move by Sony... And although it's going to take rebranding and a huge marketing effort, I think the investment is really worth it if they pull it of right! Good luck SE...uh, I meant.. S...

Hilarious to read all the comments here. First of all, most things will remain the same, as it will still basically be the same people behind it, just a change of name at first.
Secondly, have people forgotten who Sony are? They are innovators themselves throughout history, giving us iconic products like the Walkman, and actually challenging Nintendo with the Playstation, Trinitron television.
I for one, am excited as to the possibilities. To me, I would be very interested to see if they leverage their gaming expertise in the new Xperia Play models, and also the experience they have got in the camera business into their smartphones.

The thing I always hated since Sony got ito play, is shiny plastic on the phones. Shiny plastic has been an ugly Sony's hangup for ever, and Samsung's also, and LG's too.

I'm glad really glad for this!! Sony finally roll up its sleeves and said lets show apple who really is the king the master of electronics. hope to see the playstation menu on a new phone.

SE always sell their phone overpriced,always.
you can take a look at the first xperia x10 family too for examples.
i really like SE phone and love the design but when it come to price vs value, i think only SE fans willing to pay for that.

I think Ericsson should start back as an independent brand there phones were fantastic owned many of them, however you look at the phones Sony used to flog they were pure rubbish and far to expensive, this is a bad move imo for Sony but Ericsson could be the winners if they enter the telecommunication market again if not then R.I.P

I'm not sure if this is good or not, wouldnt this mean they are going to have a bunch of useless integration with sony products and other stuff? not that I am not a fan of sony but yeah, I'd rather have a better phone funtionality.
