In most places, you'll get one physical SIM and one eSIM, but there are exceptions.

in several country in asia eg indonesia, you can buy sim card as you buy burger in mcd. and its commonly if seeing people using more than 1 cell phone. but, for several condition, not all people like to carry more than 1 cell phone, but they have more than 1 number (1 card for call to family and other for business). its good step from apple to provide dual active sim card.

Apples 2018 invention : dual SIM

          IPhone still don't have
          - headphone jack
          - microSD slot
          - USB port
          - opensource OS
          - bluetooth compatability

          Much different from "normal smartphone".
          Only apple fanboys like it.

              Work???
              It dont work.
As its not working the Jack, Memory card, dash charging etc.
Apple dont support anything so if a dual sim works it must been some very strange occasion.

The only carrier that have issues is Sprint but that's because of their outdated CDMA tech.

This is way better than dual SIM. Multiple eSIMs can be stores and you can also use the physical SIM slot oversea. No more paying carriers $10-30 for SIM card and have to buy Verizon/unlocked to get all 4 carriers bands

Apple need not innovate but it has probably screwed it further with so much of complication on the basic stuff

Other brands like Samsung, LG, Huawei etc. are doing those pesky things for years. They are providing dual SIM support only to Asia while the US, Europe and Australia get only single-SIM varients, even though they pay the same price for their handset. Really annoying.

y cant they make dual sim phone, like the one for china, available to other countries ?

Anonymous, 13 Sep 2018Wow.. . How about sd card slot..?!Is there (on the market) any mobile Apple product that had or has expansion card support? No! Neither iPods nor phones have it, because Apple considered people should use the cloud: iTunes, iCloud. If you want more storage you have to buy a bigger internal storage iDevice (pay more for that amount of storage space than a storage media of the same capacity = marketing strategy = more profit for them). Also, with an external media storage, people could store pirated stuff = angry music industry.
[Disclaimer: I'm not an Apple fanboy or fangirl, I'm using Android smartphones and never had an Apple product. And never will because I can use my money better.]

eSim?? That thing is pure regression. The ability to change SIM cards will be LOCKED on the carrier itself in the future and you can DO NOTHING about it. Hope Samsung and others NEVER go down this path (except Pixel).
