Huawei and Samsung release so many phones they cannot keep up supporting them. Flagships that should get most of the attention still get lackluster support.
Apples current phones and older phones receive much better support than any phone on the market. Something these manufacturers have no intention of improving.

If like everything else, u have to jump through an extra layer of hoops or finances to pay for a basic setting on a super premium flagship, if its a pointless offering like u say then why bother even offer it? You can say what u like but at the end of the day apple is a closed ecosystem, and because it has no threat it is its own boss, it can dictate and you consumers will just accept regardless, year upon year they remove items and then charge you more for the privilege, in the android world, that doesnt happen, people bpycott companies and move to the next one, im glad ur happy with the OS and the device and apple, thats great, there is no denying they dont make great products, i mean i dont even like them that much but the XS Max intrigues me, but with all the freedom allowed by android, and the sheer cost of the iphone max with decent storage is just astounding, i cant bring myself to pay £1400 for a phone, only to habe to pay another £25 for a fast charger, £10 for an app so i can shoot raw, a £10 dongle just incase i want to use my trusty old cables, a£15 adaptor so i can charge my device on the go and continue to watch my movie, and so on, its not about being able to afford it, thats not the problem, its just getting so little value for money for such a pfemium labelled product,

So "screen extension" = when the phone has all its normal sensors, camera(s), earpiece, etc. and the screen is extended around them to make use of the unused space. Keeping the same sensors and same functionality, while maximising screen space.
"Notch" = when the phone uses less sensors and limits functionality in order to create the smallest possible cutout in the screen.
And yes, RAW is versatile, but it's kind of like having access to modifying the ECU mapping on a 3-pistons, 1 litre small diesel engine. It's nice to have, but ultimately not something which brings great benefits to the user.
Not sure about "being stuck" and "choices" as I didn't feel stuck or with limited choices in the past 8 months since I have been using an iPhone. The device itself is nicely made, the OS is nicely made, the apps are qualitative, I don't feel like there's anything more balanced out there in terms of all these aspects.
I'm paying for all my apps (if there are no free alternatives to them) and I am using Spotify, Netflix, Amazon, etc. for all of my music and movies needs. No more manually transferring files, no more searching and downloading mp3s and movies from torrents. And I have come to realise that this is the right way to do things and it just works better this way. Yes, I spend money on these, but this is how developers and artists get paid so they can come up with more content in the future. It's just easier and faster to manage.

Ram, android doesnt NEED more ram, but it is less optimized granted, ir blaster, isnt a thing of the past and perhaps a niche idea, but the fact its on there makes it useful, the iphone has a notch regardless of how you spin it, if u call it a screen extension, then every other phone with a notch is also an extension, :-) the point is this tho, that many companies can offer more for less, yet apple seems to remove more and more and alsp charge more at the same time and people berate android for its freedom, if ur in the apple ecosystem ur stuck with no choices, at least with android, when a manufacturer becomes stale you can move to another android flagship

Smaller notch = less sensors = yes, that's a notch. The iPX has extended screen around the sensors, not a notch. There's a difference between a screen extension and a notch.
3 cameras, but lesser photo quality.
More freedom to boot = why would you install a different ROM other than to prove it can be done? Just use the official ROM and buy the apps you need. If you get everything legally (aka pying the developers) you don't need a custom ROM.
More ram = android requires twice the ram that iOS requires. And it still lags when you push it hard.
Bigger screen, smaller screen = that's relative to how big your hands are.
Higher resolution = needed for VR only. Everything over 350 ppi is actually not needed. If you hold your phone 30cm or further away from you, you won't be able to tell the difference between 350 and 500 ppi.
Cheaper = if cost is an issue, just the get cheapest phone you can afford. But iPhones are not meant to be bought by people with low incomes, as they are premium products.
Bigger battery = bigger phone. But bigger batteries are indeed always better than smaller ones.
IR blaster = not really needed. Just like notification LEDs. They're a thing of the past.
Phone case/bumper/screen protectors = these are used by people who are trying to protect the money they've spent on their phones. That just means they bought something that they can't really afford and have stretched their budgets to buy it. The phone you can afford is the phone you will use without worrying about breaking it. (i.e. the one you can replace at least one time a month in case you break it. If you can afford to pay $200 every month for a phone, then you can afford a $200 phone - you will not cover it up with cases and other unneeded stuff like that)
