They don't fix the Android security issues or keep your phone OS up to date. It's the equivalent of being happy IBM "update" their Windows computers by adding a new wallpaper.

These are amazing bundles! These over those iPhones any day!!!

That article doesn't mention the part of the Digitimes-report that states that the Taiwan-based manufacturers remain key suppliers, due to their ability to meet the volumes required by Apple. In other words, Apple are diversifying their production lines to ensure supplies can keep up with demands.

And where a company is based DOES matter. We're talking about very different work cultures, ethics and wages here.

And even if its the same factory producing two devices, the quality can still vary greatly. The Pixel 2, with its abysmal quality, was produced by Foxconn. The same manufacturer that makes the iPhones. It's all about what level of quality a company chooses for their components, device testing and QA.

Xiaomi aren't exactly ordering top-of-the-line components, have had issues with build quality in the past, wildly steal designs and have next to zero software support. Their business model seem to sell devices at near-cost that may seem appealing at first glance, in order to drive users over to their software services that they have bloated nearly all their devices with.

You're saying they didn't use a man-in-the-middle technique, but instead reviewed the AOSP code?
You're saying the backdoor found on Xiaomi devices was because of the open source code, even though Xiaomi is constantly violating the GPL by not releasing it?

There's no evidence that Apple tracks or sends your private data anywhere. There's no evidence that would suggest Apple aren't telling the truth about anonymising voice assistant communication. The argument that arose from the Apple v. FBI debate was that NSA MAY have zero day exploits that they refused to reveal, not that they have a backdoor. A backdoor is what FBI demanded from Apple, and Apple refused to give them.

There's no doubt that Apple can and will hand over data from their iCloud service if faced with a legal court order. But the fact remain that you can completely seal off your private data on an iOS device, and there's zero evidence of any backdoors.

Apple can't give out data they don't have. That's a central philosophy when it comes to privacy, that Apple seem to stick with. If they have no private information on you, they also can't violate your privacy even if a governmental agency demand it.

And all the listed companies that you said. Are they all located in US ? Have them all workers from US ? If it's made in china by Chinese workers that the company name can be what ever you like to be and owned by who ever. Means nothing.

And by your statement it seems like qualcomm who makes the Snapdragon cpu's will sell there CPU's with lower quality to these Chinese OEM's ? I dont think that these companies would last long if they would sell lower quality parts to OEM's that have not a well known name to them. And i dont think that built quality will be lower for other OEM's then the brand names if they all are built in same company factories.

So where comes the quality is better for some and worse for others ?

AnonD-731363, 16 Sep 2018Man apple is a trillion dollar company and pioneering tech?... moreFirst of all, Samsung didn't invent waterproofing and Sony didn't invent 4K recording. That's like saying Ford invented the wheel. Now you're just looking silly. Secondly, buying technology from other companies is something every single hardware company do. Even Samsung buy technology and license patents from others.

And yes, Apple are hardware pioneers. Have you failed to notice how the entire industry immediately copy anything new Apple do? Have you failed to notice the sea of notches, removal of 3.5 mm ports, attempts to copy FaceID and very common design-ripoffs we've had? Or the sea of voice assistants we've had after Siri was released?

That's what followers do with pioneers.

Apple aren't always the first to invent a certain technology, but they are seemingly nearly always the ones to perfect and popularise it.
It used to be that Nokia, Motorola and HTC were great technological pioneers in the mobile industry, but they have all since collapsed for various reasons.

And as a side note, the iPhones have a 50-60 % profit margin. Same as the Samsung devices. And that's even though Samsung devices are cheaper to manufacture, and Samsung doesn't need a massive team of engineers for Google-competing services and software.

Content of those flows, not really. Please tell me how you break the TLS easily, without being a state-sponsored actor with powers to subvert root CAs?

Besides, what happens in the network has nothing to do with your original argument. You made security claims about Apple (and iOS) that no one can back until they have seen the source code. The toggles and other bells and whistles in the interface mean nothing for the purposes of state-sponsored actors. Ironically enough, you could actually make such claims of security with Android (thanks to AOSP and the ability to run your own ROM created from source).

Your claim that Apple buy lower-quality components to cut the cost is easily falsifiable. The iPhone X is the most expensive phone (in terms of bill of materials - $370) ever made. That's goes against your claims of buying "cheaper lower-quality components".

Adding to this, the main iPhone components come from TSMC, Intel, Broadcom, Skyworks, Samsung, Cirrus Logic, Qorvo Inc, TDK Corp, SK Hynix, Dialog Semiconductor, NXP, Alps and Bosch. None of those are Chinese.

There are only two components coming from Chinese companies; the battery (Huizhou Desay) and the wireless module (Universal Scientific Industrial). And this has been true for a long time, so it's not a case of "buying lower-quality products".

As for your claim of a backdoor into Apple products:
