We test: Is the iPhone 5s usable under iOS 12?

We spend some time with this five year old phone to see if it's still usable with the new iOS 12 update.

    Apple was never cheap, but i really admired it ( till 6s )...now it is way too expensive although i badly want an Apple Watch 4 and somehow pair with Galaxy Note 9 ( perfect combo for me) but yup, nothing of that sort is gonna happen :(

      Android is well working but IOS is ful of bugs and laggs.
      Thus they increased ram from 1 to 4 because of laggs.

              Kudos to Apple for making an update that actually improves older hardware instead of slowing them down this time. They're copying Google like they are with computational photography but their fanboys will think they invented it all and Google is the copycat. SMH.

                My answer is, "HELL NO."

                1 GB of RAM is laughable these days. I don't think smartphones got powerful enough until 2016. If a 5s can still be solid for 5 years, my LG G5 still on Marshmallow can last longer thanks to removable battery. I can push it to a decade or whenever the circuitry board inside finally dies on me.

                The only three keepers I plan to keep for life even if they die on me is the LG G5, Essential Phone, and iPhone SE. I would just keep them to put inside a shoebox. I can also keep the V20 but just hate surfboard phones and it's redundant when I already have the G5. I need the IR blaster and wide-angle lens.

                The iPhone 5s aged better than the 4/4s. Imagine how much better the SE will age once it reaches iOS15 in 2021? It seemed to age pretty well after three major updates already.

                          Used an IPhone 3 years ago, I sold it after 1week. I don't think I'll ever use an IPhone again any time soon.

                            Hmmm, now that's more complicated....

                              Obviously not.
                              Low powered SoC and very low specs makes it unusable this time.

                                just update my 6s to ios 12 and it feel much responsive than ios 11 and much fluid than before and my benchmark get more score than last ios version (ios.12 = 153xxx vs ios.11 = 138xxx)
