Apple mentions AirPower charging mat in iPhone manual, should someone tell them?

21 September 2018
The long-forgotten AirPower wireless charging mat that had to be released this year makes a surprising appearance.

Apple never claimed they invented wireless charging, and it is highly unlikley that they ever will. Yet, half of the comment section is just bashing Apple for nothing. Comments are not even related to article...

apple is waiting for some big distraction in the media so they can release this under the radar and act like they invented wireless charging and Qi.

TheGreyApe, 21 Sep 2018I wonder if they have developed a way for it only to charge... moreWith nfc chips thats not very far off

When i bought iphone, innovation is not what I am after, long time user should notice that, first fingger print, iris, fast charge etc belong to motorola and fujitsu

So uh, Apple's gonna claim that they're the first one to Innovate wireless charging? XD

Seriously, it's annoyingly fugly to here those "Tim's claims".

            Lol a good joke here.
            Who say innovation...

Just another example of Apple dropping the ball. Can't even delete all traces of another promise, properly!

Joke company and joke product. Unless it can charge faster than anything out there for the mainstream consumer...you'd have to be rich with more money than sense, a hipster or just plain stupid for buying it.

TheGreyApe, 21 Sep 2018I wonder if they have developed a way for it only to charge... moreMight as well only charge iPhones/iWatches. No dude with an Android phone or more than 1 brain cell would pay so much for a product which is essentially no different to any other QI-Wireless charger. It's like the whole debate over the lightning port again...by all means have exclusivity and limitations to your products/platforms but only if they actually add something new to the consumers...

Like imagine if Airpower could deliver like 20w or even 25w wirelessly...see how much more interesting it makes the product and maybe even the iPhone as a complementary good which can access those speeds of charge?

TheGreyApe, 21 Sep 2018I wonder if they have developed a way for it only to charge... moreProbably for the initial weeks, then another company will make the tech more affordable

                      Airpower is misleading term lol

I wonder if they have developed a way for it only to charge Apple devices, Would be quite funny if they done this, however at the same time infuriating

                          Don't worry, I'LL tell Apple ;)
