This is funny. Maybe in the year 2025, the back of smartphones will all be covered with cameras. They might as well design the phone to look like a pineapple.

mbuuqw, 24 Sep 20181 camera on either side is plenty. What drugged-up idiot ca... moreSomebody who cares about adaptability to all situations.
It doesnt matter how it looks, i only matter to be able to take good photos no matter what.
Bokeh, zoom, ultra wide and macro photos need different focus lengths, apertures, pixel counts, etc. Something that one single mobile camera cannot adapt to because our tech is not quite there yet. By not quite i mean no way near.

The module looks ugly mostly, but the execution of doing this (if it's legit) is great for a midranger.

i don't think a snapdragon 660 supports 4 cameras... nor any snapdragon in general... so it's either a new Exynos or it will have 2 cameras on the back and 2 on the front.

1. The device in that render looks uber-ugly.
2. The camera setup sounds flagship grade, and i don't see Samsung putting that out on a midrange series, especially since their flagship series is still left with Dual-Camera setup.
3. More isn't always better. Let's wait until things become clearer before praising the phone.

AnonD-784107, 24 Sep 2018getting stupid next whats next 5 lens camera or 6 lens. the... moreThat triple lens implementation is also a compromise, they need the 40MP mode (which resolves very limited extra detail) for the bragging rights but that 40MP module on its own really struggles in low light, that's where the 20MP BW comes in, but the merged data still results in loss of fine detail and unnatural, waxy or aggregated texture. And by choosing to go 3x with the zoom, their performance at 2x falls behind the competition.
Ideally there should be a 19mm equiv., 28mm equiv., 55mm equiv., 85mm equiv. and each hitting above their class with optical stabilization and the aid of a smart exposure algorithm like Apple's in the XS.

These attempts to stack camera modules are mainly a publicity stunt, not to say that they're completely useless but not as good as one big main module with a reasonable number of pixels, or even a new, and stably performing HDR algorithm like Apple's.
