I have experienced Color OS (on Realme 2 and another Oppo mid ranger), and it's not laggy at all, provided the hardware is decent. It ran well even on SD 450. And from my brief experience I didn't experienced any bugs, nor do I hear people complain about Color OS as much as I hear complaints about the software in Mi A1 or the Moto devices with stockish android. And Color OS is still getting much better support than the stockish Android on Moto devices.

But for most people software is half part of the equation. You can have SD845 and then run a half baked OS on it. No matter what's the performance is supposed to be it will always lag or crash. Most people don't care for the processor, all they want is a problem free software experience.

            Great specs for great price

Anonymous, 01 Oct 2018Do you know that the chipset has been underclocked? And ... moreAn underclocked SD 660 with Color OS would still give better performance than SD 636 on Android One.

And software IMO is a subjective thing, though yes most people prefer Stock android.
It's just like difference between PUBG and Fortnite. Fortnite having more players doesn't make PUBG bad. People might have their preference, doesn't mean the other is bad.
Ps. IMO, MIUI>Stock>Color OS, though I would never pay like 2k Rs extra just for the software

And what about the more important things? Nokia phones run stock Android while this phone has ColorOS, that alone makes Nokia phones or any other phone running stock Android better.

Color OS is the worst android skin. Never ever buy phones from oppo

i want to hate it so badly but its a surprisingly a good deal

                            nik.007, 30 Sep 2018Lol excluding the hf jack makes the device looks even more ... moreWell. I tried my luck. ^^;

Kiyasuriin, 30 Sep 2018Though it's more of a nitpick. 1. It looks better and symm... moreLol excluding the hf jack makes the device looks even more symmetrical, doesn't mean it should be removed. Don't think this matters for anyone.

Being reversible is a convenience, agreed. But I personally won't be paying even 10 bucks extra just for a reversible connector. Noone would pay extra because of this IMO. But yes, I agree that this is an advantage.

And as for faster transfer speeds, that is the actual advantage of Type C, but for that they need to up it to USB 3.0. Even the OP6 which costs much much more is still on 2.0, which makes including Type C redundant (except, of course, the reversible part).
Noone is giving USB 3.0 support even in higher priced phones.

                              As for the brands:

Moto has the Motorola One Power, which is priced almost 15% higher, has an inferior chip, camera & screen.

Nokia has the 6.1 Plus, which again is priced 15% higher, with an inferior chip, battery, camera and a smaller and inferior display.

The chipset alone, makes it much better than all those, a cheaper price tag is just an extra bonus.

                                  1. It looks better and symmetrical compared to microUSB
                                  2. REVERSIBLE connector. (Just try connecting a microUSB the wrong way, with USB C it just can't happen!)
                                  3. Supports higher power deliveries
                                  4. Insane speeds of transfer
                                  5. Can connect to macbooks (xD hate that fact, but it's true)

                                  Nokia and motorola. ;3

for those who own a 2017-18 flagship, a lot would want a secondary phone to fool around. I have a S8 and bought a Xiaomi A2, just because the A2 has android-one, USB-C and fast charge, so there is no need to buy new charging cable. Sure if the Realme is my only phone, I don't mind the micro usb, but definitely need a small powerbank for slow charging speed.
