Samsung to see an 18% increase in profits in Q3 2018

02 October 2018
The big jump comes from memory chips sales, but those are expected to sharply decline in the next three months.

Walter C. Dornez, 03 Oct 2018Exactly. I feel the same Well it means Samsung is failing.
The only thing they have are zillions of other products so they are one of largest manufacturers in the world when we speak about electric and electronic devices.
      Black and white tech.
But still human hunger for money in other words greed is endless.
I really dontunderstand people which puts money as a most important thing in life much more than anything else.

Just wait for S10. Then you will realise that when lion takes one step behind it doesn’t means that the lion is scared, what does it actually means that it is going to jump and kill the prey. A Samsung Fan Boy

obviously, i'm just nitpicking for the sake of countering your point, the note 9 checks more boxes than any smartphone out there but to say it has all features? nope.

Anonymous, 02 Oct 2018It sells horribly. Nobody pays that much for a phone. Also ... moreyup - samsung phones are horrible- with that (more than )premium price tag they cannot even deliver timely update, cannot fix lags. They just blindly copy other companies strategy and fails. Take an example of bixby - no customer wanted it, then their app market. Its shame that they are using android and in android they are making their own app market which shows android + samsung app. and in 2/3 month they reduce price around 10% then again 10% - shows their inferior marketing as well.

But since Sansung is really good in making displays and memories, they absolutely deserve this success.

I see their smartphone business declining however.

Samsung may not be that prosperous in their smartphone business however in terms of net profits they always hit the goal set before them.

Samsung only had profits due to ASIC sales (ctypto mining). Cryptomining is dying so Samsung is going down.

Meaning that yes Samsung needs the mobile department. But they continuously f*ck up and lose to the Chinese. So good riddance

LG Superfan, 02 Oct 2018Not relevant but when will they launch foldable phone? The rumour mill suggests before the holidays. But I think it seems like it'll be an extremely limited market phone (Korea and maybe some other country?) and it'll probably cost closer to 3 grand than 1 grand.
