02 October 2018
The Pro 6 and Laptop 2 come in matte black, the Studio 2 is expensive, and the Headphones are Microsoft's first stab at that market.

Kiyasuriin, 03 Oct 2018Sigh.... Thank god I am skipping Surface series. I mean. I... moreAgree about USB-C part. But what do you mean "no interchangeable soc"? Doesn't soc have all components integrated and they are not upgradable? Or do you mean we can't upgrade the entire board?

Sigh.... Thank god I am skipping Surface series.
I mean. It's even worth bothering to glimpse at that thing? No interchangable SoC, no Usb C. And still crappy software for a tablet. Nope~ sticking with my cintiq!

Microsoft put ' surface ' in front of everything nowadays to justify their overpriced products. Maybe someday I might even see a successor of windows 10 be called 'surface windows' 😁

No USB-C? Really MS? Just how stupid are your marketing people? USB-C is the new standard. Embrace it or get left behind.

The processor choices are meh at best, and with it being a sealed device, it is landfill bound from day 1.

HP, Dell, even Lenovo, have better designs. Lenovo has their ThinkPad X1 Gen 3 tablet, HP has their Z Book X2 2in1 with an actual dedicated video card in a tablet, Dell has their Precision 5530 2in1 convertible.

I don't know what MS is thinking. They are going to fall even farther behind in the space THEY basically defined. I get their CEO hates all consumer hardware, thinking everything should be cloud-based, but that will never happen. Too much software, and by extension, hardware, is designed solely for local functionality.

The headphones are the most interesting. that rotating dial is pretty slick

Honestly these products and hardware material looks better than Apple's.
I love it and Microsoft really know how to make great hardware All in PC, Laptop, Tablet, etc, etc more than Apple

No Thunderbolt 3. No buy. Simple as that. A premium priced laptop / tablet without thunderbolt 3 support is a JOKE.

The CPU used here is already underpowered version. They need t3 external gpu assistance.. when you are docked option for rendering.

So basically this is just a road warrior's laptop. Even so, you can simply downgrade to surface go and not be impacted as much... and save tons of $$ in the process.

Just kill it with fire. At 1.7 pounds it is no tablet (not that anyone would use windows in tablet mode).

It's just a weak ultrabook. Buy a true utrabook and thank me later. It is time for 2in1s to finally croak. They never managed to usurp the iPad line (the reason that were invented in the first place), because apparently it is not the form factor, it is the software. And mobile software *kills* desktop software for tablet use.

The only thing exciting here is the headphone. Surface products updated with new chip but no USB C in late 2018 is big disappointment.

AnonD-558092, 03 Oct 2018Everything shown here is so overpriced. And still no Window... moreIMHO, putting a more powerful CPU may not be easy as it requires better cooling and the other controls, and this is why designers intentionally avoid that. But I agree that they should offer ARM especially in Surface Go. And, the price is ugly for sure (reason why I don't own a 2-in-1 till date although I need it pretty much).

The fact that some headphones have USB C but the laptops don't

The only thing that is close to being decent is the Studio 2, but then it has pretty poor specs for desktop. You're better off buying one from Dell or HP at that price.

The Surface Pro 6 and the Laptop 2 are basically unrepairable piles of trash. Particularly, the Surface Laptop 2 (like the previous Surface Laptop as torn down by iFixit) is a piece of throwaway garbage where repairing anything is impossible as you likely have you destroy the cover. Knowing Microsoft, the battery would likely be firmly glued into place. And good luck cleaning the cooling fans on that laptop once they get clogged with dust. It'll be even crappier if it runs Windows 10 S but doesn't have the free upgrade to regular Windows 10. That 13.5 hour battery life is a big fat exaggeration, unless you turn off all your connectivity and basically turn down the display almost to zero brightness. You'd be lucky to get around 6 to 7 hours for regular use.

If you want a laptop, just buy a Dell XPS or even a Asus Zenbook, they're way better value for the price.

Everything shown here is so overpriced. And still no Windows on ARM. It died before reaching the market lol. Or they're going to try to take advantage of 5G to promote it.

PS: Surface Studio 2 has a laptop processor (7820HQ) and a GTX1060/1070. That is a disappointment because why not an 8th gen, 6-core i7? Cheaper gaming laptops will be more powerful than this with the same TDP lol. Plus the 2TB SSR doesn't make up for this since SSD prices are rapidly declining

I can imagine xiaomi giving out a large skip filled with their products to go head to head with the studio 2
