03 October 2018
There's a chin too, a textured back, and a magnesium frame.

Sharp (after OnePlus, ZTE...) has officially "joined" (Cr)Apple's "COURAGE" cult.

It is not USELESS and NOT A VERY WISE decision. You must understand that people still require it for many uses.

Anonymous, 04 Oct 2018I hope XZ4 has Sharp oled instead of buying from Samsung /LG And why that be advantage? Samsung produces best oleds in a smarthpone world, LG in other hand produces one of the worst. So if they bought from Samsung you should be happy

Looks at the design. Hard Facepalm.

What happened to Sharp. When did it become such a hardcore, blind Apple follower.

Whackcar, 04 Oct 2018Not only do they make phones, they have made some of the mo... moreI had and used both the Aquos Crystal and Crystal X, the Crystal X came around 2015 and had a larger screen and smaller chin with a camera and RAM bump up as well, while keeping the tri-bezelless design... Sadly, both variant got stuck at 4.4, I still have and am still using both for mostly as a music and video player, calls and SMS... Many apps no longer support 4.4, and it's 1.5/2 GB RAM respectively could no longer keep up with apps that are still support 4.4 which receives update and are optimized for newer Android version... Hence I'm forced to get a new phone to keep using the key apps I used, while still awaiting for a proper predecessor... The Aquos S2 came out but it had that one camera at the top as a bezel, which Essential phone eventually followed...
Now this, the notch is disappointing...

Well over past 3-4 years this will be the lightest flagship made only 146 grams and magnesium body with a very special carbon fibre compared to Samsung and Apple competition where you will pay a huge ammount of money for breaking its fragile glass front or back.
Very vise decision. This company really knows how to make a proper phone and i am glad for that.
Its should be best flagship in 2018 but hey wait for Nokia 9.

The magnesium body sounds good, but they removed the 3.5mm jack and they ship an adapter with the phone.

Wide notch or deep notch? Anyway, I think the Pixel 3 XL's notch looks bigger.

Anonymous, 04 Oct 2018Didn't know Sharp made phones. Looks goodNot only do they make phones, they have made some of the most innovative ones!

Sharp was one of the first to offer IP certification on their phones. They were the first to make a bezelless phone (with a big chin, but it was way back in 2014). They were the first to offer an IRIS scanner on an Android phone.

Sharp has made some very innovative phones over the years. They deserve respect for that!

It appears to have dropped the earphone jack, memory card slot and possibly the 120Hz refresh rate of their past LCD-based models. ...At least it's not over 155mm tall, but it's still much bigger than I'd like.
I've given up hoping on seeing a return to the Xx2 design which just kept a chin in a very compact body. Which is sad because that's precisely what I want.

The notch will knockout Apple in a production cost match, it gonna be plenty of clones fighting and people will greet the cheap clones.
