Every company is in the race of increasing numbers of camera....... But what I suggest infect people like to see is one Large senor (full frame or APS-C size) coupled with large camera lens (specially designed to adopt camera body) to give comparable result with any professional DSLR camera. The present camera technology has improved but still very far to achieve professional camera image quality.

But if they're chosen vertical border line helps with internals then that's more important.

There is a Huawei Honor 7i.
It has ONLY 1 camera. It is placed on the back side, but it can be flipped and used as front facing camera.
There is another similar concept with full screen called Doogee Mix 3.
They were probably killed by multi-camera trend.
