Samsung approach I have to say quite odd. The triple camera look elongated enough now quadruple camera makes it look even longer downward. It actually reached the same level as the fingerprint sensor which might get smudge complaints soon. Must be internal design doesnt allow it to be in the middle. Who knows? They could make it fancier like a diagonal design. Hahaha.

Making phones with multiple cameras is now starting to become a trend.
I know for sure that they would end up having more than 5 cameras.
Phone manufacturers are getting busy to copying one another's concept.

4 cameras, all in the name of "wide angles" or what. I think am satisfied with even the one camera or two. Not 3 then 4, it looks absord.

Why the depth sensor?
Ok, I could think of a reason, with the small sensors of mobiles, combined with the short tele, they could perhaps not achieve enough background separation, to get the optimum data for then processing images to have background blur.
Or the tele camers is fixed focus.
But I would much prefer a stereoscopic approach, where the the offset can be used for separating objects. With the benefit of also being able to be used for 3D images to be used with "VR-glasses". Also with the benefit of expanding the field of view, without having to resort to fixed focused ultra-wide modules (I can accept that they are also on board, if they would offer even wider field of view, depending on what is the optimum focal length for the main cameras).

Gandalfdenvite, 04 Oct 2018If there suddenly is so much room in the phones for four ca... moreMaybe having a big sensor means being thicker? Or maybe it need more power for processing which may lead to having to upgrade the other parts. I dunno, whatever the reasons doesn't matter since we're not gonna buy it if it's not what we want lol.
