Asus ROG phone coming to the US on October 18

04 October 2018
Four months after it was announced, the gaming flagship is still not available in stores. Maybe that will change two weeks from now.

Why do you think this phone with this price is competitive for regular users who don't play mobile games nearly as much? 512GB is way overkill, strong cooling system is not needed for light-to-medium usage, and accessories cost extra money. There have been feedback out there stating that while playing games you pretty much have to use the extra cooling attachment, otherwise the phone is gonna be piping hot. There is no doubt it is the package with most value if your main focus on the phone is gaming, but I think people who use their phones more like mobile devices than gaming consoles would prefer phones with similar specs but a lot less cost, like OnePlus 6(T) or ASUS Zenfone 5z.

Cyclonite, 06 Oct 2018The official price for the 512GB model in Taiwan is slightl... moreWhy isn't this pricing competitive enough?

How munch costing the competitors with 512GB of storage?
      They costing much more,
      without
      - speed-binned SoC-s,
      - extra cooling,
      - ad WiFi,
      - stereo speakers,
      - air-triggers,
      - special Gaming-mode, -OS,
      and so on,
      the list is long enough.

What about that very special (gaming) accessories,
where can you find a similar offer?

Taiwan is usually an expensive market,
this about $1000 starting-price for vers. w/ 512GB, means agressive pricing.

EU version listed for EUR 899 in ASUS's own shop
      that's about
"Asus has not named a price for its gaming powerhouse yet, . . ."

Elsewhere people will get GameVice Controller on pre-orders free!

By the way prices for ROG Phone Accessories are already listed as well in some shops.

I co... moreThe official price for the 512GB model in Taiwan is slightly higher than $1000, so I am expecting the same price hitting the States. I don't know why that seller marked the price significant higher than official price, but even at around 1000 bucks I still don't think it is competitive enough. I think ASUS, for the most part, is targeting die hard mobile game fans with this product.

Anonymous, 05 Oct 2018Those Sounds like europe prices with wat. Somewhat cheaper ... moreThey may just ship the device from Taiwan directly, and I suspect that those are Taiwan models as the phone is already available in Taiwan, they just need to get the package from warehouse. However, the official price in Taiwan, even for the 512GB model, is just slightly over $1000. I don't know why they are charging a significant amount more than the official price.

ROG phone has a 3.5 mm jack, more battery life, 128 GB or 512 GB internal storage, larger AMOLED screen, SD 845, higher on-screen gaming frame rates, good design with lesser bezels and a better Dual Pixel camera.

I could buy a full gaming PC from that amount of money, why would I waste it on a overpriced phone, which is only a slightly better than a 400$ phone with similar soc?

According to a listing I found, the 512GB model is around $1730 and the 128GB model is around $1360. That might not be the final price as it is still in the pre-order step.

GearBest is garbage, bought two phones of them, one broke after a year and the other one the day when it came. The warranty is a hell, takes months and you still pay quite some money for shipping. Don't. Buy. From . Them.

By the time it reaches my market (if it even happens) it won't be considered a flagship anymore...
