I hit update and a "verifying" box appeared ... one hour later I left for work with the iPad ... opened it at work and found the verifying box still locking up the screen ... turned it off , restarted - tried again and it loaded u[p almost immediately ...YAY! ... then it refused to go any further without being connected to itunes ... a heads up that this was going to happen might have been handy ... and what is the point o0f an OTA update that needs you to hook up to iTunes anyway ... everything after Snowleopard has been buggy both on the iPad and the Mac ... annoying

iP is Sh!t, 11 Nov 2011I don't have problems in network when i use my nokia! So do... moreIPhone 4s is neither the ultimate handset nor a trail blazer. Nevertheless, it is one of the most trouble free and any weather companion. It runs on the best mobile phone O/S and their software is above par. Add to this, the best 8 MP camera phone title and their immaculate audio capabilities and I really do not understand why some complain. Is it by spiteful design or childish infatuation over a make that was the market leader ages ago? If their qualm is the dropped calls issue, then it is unfounded and a bloody lie. I travel a lot and visit 3 countries every year but never ever had the dropped call issue.
In my humble opinion, IPhone 4 & 4S, Samy Gal 2 & note are the phones to beat at this point in time. May be windows platform would change the equation but that is to be seen. By the way I am not a IPhone worshipper or a slave. I own Gal 2 and IPhone 4 and prefer Gal2 over IPhone 4.
This is my personal opinion and I am neither trying to bulldoze my views nor step on some ones toes.

chambis, 11 Nov 2011hi guys i updated my 4s today to fix the battery issue. but... morechambis did you have an iphone previous to your iphone 4s? like a 3gs? i had a 3gs and now have a 4s and the genius bar told me to create a new device and not restore from backup, as restoring form an old backup replaces the iphone 4s's battery management software with the old devices battery management software. hope this helps! :)

But does it include improved voice recognition for Scottish accents? Well, does it? I thought not. Apple does not seem to care about poor wee Scottish folk.

People are confusing poor network coverage with phone faults now.

The iphone 4S has NO connectivity issues. Funny how on Orange in the UK, I had NO dropped calls EVER on the 3GS or my friends iphone 4.

This was a common problem in the iPhone 3GS & iPhone 4 & was talked about on various forums constantly.

The iPhone 4S fixed this issue. I tested it with my friend's iPhone 4S & my iPhone 4. The transition from 3G to 2G on the 4S was instantaneous.

We have tried this in several areas where we know 3G is weak as it's entering a 2G area & on ALL occasions the 4S switched instantly.

                                    Troll!

Sorry but sat in same spot i normally sit with my phone and the wifes 4s kept dropping signal. Mine had 3 bars only seems to happen in areas were the switch betwen 2g and 3g is as is very slow to change, ie 3g had dropped off i switched instantly to 2g, on non iphone and her 4s took 4 minutes to lock on to 2g network with one bar lower than my handset. 4s is good handset but not the best, and certainly not very good value for money in the uk when many handsets are free on good price plans.
