There is no big difference for over 99% of customers who listen to music in noisy environment in addition to the fact that the bottleneck is earpiece nowadays. However, for camera, a SONY RX100V is not so big but it can easily blow the more expensive phones out of water. Furthermore, a camera can last for over 5 years. You will have EVF and tilt screen which are very usable when taking photos/videos in variable environment.

People expect a lot from huawei even with their deceive marketing, and i dont know why.

Yeah at this time, only Sony & Samsung have a true 960fps because of DRAM used in their cameras.

Nick Tagataka, 11 Oct 2018I don't think it's a good idea to talk much about a device ... more"-Who knows what's going to happen with the slow motion recording capability? It might just end up supporting 480fps super slow-mo just like OP6, given its improved ISP on Kirin 980. The sensor can be slightly different too."

                It cant.

There was no mention of that on the kirin 980 presentation. And it cant record 4k@60 either (this was confirmed by anandtech).

So if they promote any 480fps recording it will be interpolated, so not true at all... and quite horrible if the honor 8x's implementation its something to go by.

I can say the same thing about the sound part: buy a dedicated music device (or an LG for that matter) with a quad DAC and some real headphones which go along with it"

This. I was going to say exactly the same but then I saw your comment and I held back.
In this case you can also also say S-Pen is pointless because writing on a 6.4 inch display with curved side edges is never going to be as comfortable as writing on a tablet.
                    Thank you for being logical.

Shanti Dope, 11 Oct 2018It can't beat its main rival though. The Note 9 is just an... moreSee, they both have their pros and cons over each other. People can choose whichever they prefer.

Just to correct you though, the Mate 20 Pro will have wireless charging, a QHD+ screen (let's determine the quality after it's out, not before), and even a under-display fingerprint sensor (better than a Iris scanner IMO).

Shanti Dope, 11 Oct 2018It can't beat its main rival though. The Note 9 is just an... moreI don't think it's a good idea to talk much about a device most of whose specs are not even leaked yet. Yes Note 9 will have a better display, a stylus and a headphone jack I give you these points, but the rest of your comment is based on speculation and you shouldn't say as if it's going to be a factually inferior device to Note 9.

-There's a rumour that Huawei will release the Qi wireless charger that supports fast wireless charging, so not only Mate 20 Pro might have wireless charging capability, but also might have the one that can charge faster than Note 9.

-Who knows what's going to happen with the slow motion recording capability? It might just end up supporting 480fps super slow-mo just like OP6, given its improved ISP on Kirin 980. The sensor can be slightly different too.

-Stereo speakers on Mate 20 Pro, again, can be completely different from those on P20 Pro. Mate 20 Pro's going to feature front facing stereo speakers according to the leaks, and that means it won't use the same driver unit as on P20P. Considering how much larger M20P will be compared to P20P, it's safe to assume that it will have even better speakers this time round due to more space available for the speakers.

-That huge notch on M20P is there to house IR scanning unit which is similar to Apple's Face ID, in fact, the regular Mate 20 won't have one and that's why it only has a waterdrop notch.

-The CPU efficiency on Exynos 9810 is actually horrible because of that high single-core GB score. At 2.8GHz, it's clocked way too high in turbo mode(when only 2 Mongoose cores are running) and takes a toll on battery life severely. Kirin 980 most likely won't have any problems with CPU power consumption due to overall lower clock on the performance core, more advanced 7nm node, and hopefully 3-cluster setup will help the battery last longer too. And probably Snapdragon 855 will be similar to K980 in terms of raw CPU performance as well.

-Earbuds might be better this time around as well, but we don't have any information on that yet so we can't comment here.

calm down folks, price gonna drop by 50% after 6 months as any Huawei phone, got my mate 10 pro literally half the price after 5 months of announcement

Shanti Dope, 11 Oct 2018It can't beat its main rival though. The Note 9 is just an... moreSo you are basing your opinion on gimmicks and assumptions:

-Qi Wireless Charging (the Mate should get wireless charging too)
-better QHD+ sAMOLED display (we haven't seen the display, so how can we tell?)
-Iris Scanner(gimmick - face reader is just as good if not more secure)
                              -S Pen(gimmick)
-True 960fps super slow motion (the new SoC might actually support it or do even better, so don't jump to conclusions without knowing; remember that this is a comparison with the unknown Mate, not the P20 Pro)

The things i didn't mention is where you are right (jack and akg; stereo too, but the Mate might have some proper dual speakers, you can never know).

Huawei has gimmicks of its own too, which you have not mentioned, such as Underwater mode, some AI stuff and whatever else there might be, but these don't really matter. It's all down to what you use your phone for mostly and what you want from a phone. And for most people that's taking photos/videos, playing games and social media. So the camera is one of the most important thing in a phone, as most phones deal with the other two aspects well enough.

And regarding "a dedicated digital camera would be the best.", that is a dumb argument. I can say the same thing about the sound part: buy a dedicated music device (or an LG for that matter) with a quad DAC and some real headphones which go along with it.

The Note 9 is just an overall complete package. It's great at everything, best at some.
Mate 20 Pro has better camera, faster chipset (though single core score of the E9810 is already in the 4000 mark, which is 900 points over the Kirin 980), slightly more refined software, but that's pretty much it.

                                Note 9 has
                                -3.5mm jack (!!)
-Qi Wireless Charging (even if no one uses it, the fact that it's there while not affecting the user experience is amazing)
-better QHD+ sAMOLED display (this panel is rivaling the greatest on the iPhone Xs Max, and I doubt Mate 20 Pro is anywhere near that level)
                                -Dolby Atmos stereo speakers
-Iris Scanner (just an IR camera that's more secured yet less complicated than facial recognition; oh, it also works well in the dark even with a mask!)
-S Pen (this is what keeps the Note series special, and it defines the great use of large screen devices)
-True 960fps super slow motion (unlike the fake one on the P20 Pro, which the Mate 20 Pro will most likely use as well)
-AKG-tuned earbuds in the box (one of the best headsets you could get inside a phone box)

Mate 20 Pro covers the great camera experience, while the Note 9 tackles everything nicely. Camera is still fantastic on the Note 9 (Mate 20 Pro only beating it in stills and maybe sometimes in videos too), but people use their phones for other things than just cameras. For that, a dedicated digital camera would be the best.

no surprise here as new flagship phones comes with 999$ price tag for some time already.
