Gibby, 19 Oct 2018This might be a simpleton question - but with these slider ... moreIf you can afford to actually own a phone as in: buy it, break it, and replace it on a monthly basis without leaving a hole in your wallet, then why would you need a case or any kind of protection?
Cases are used by people who buy phones which they are afraid to break/lose, thus too expensive for their budgets.

This might be a simpleton question - but with these slider phones - how does a case fit? I understand you could have one what protects the back but surely it would need a gap at the bottom for the screen to slide downwards - meaning the bottom of the screen isn't protected...
Can someone pls enlighten me?!

If the phone keeps all its sensors, camera, and earpiece at the top and has screen space around them, that's called 'extended screen' and is by no means meant to show anything else than the clock, notification icons, and other statuses and icons. This is not an area to hold content like video, text, webpages, etc.
And when a phone removes some sensors, the earpiece, etc., thus crippling the phone's functionality, but leaves the camera or anything else that cannot be removed at the top of the screen, and this is cutting down from the screen, this is called a 'notch'.
I would much rather have all those status and notifications there besides the sensors instead of having them taking up from the content area of the screen. It's just a logical step to use that space for such things. And much more functional than a notched screen or a straight classic screen.
Screen extensions = awesome and functional
Notches = bad design, limiting functionality
Straight screens = inefficient; for old people who cannot adjust to new and better things

Luckily no notch, that's essentially what matters most. What is the point of making (tri) bezelless phones and the only bezel is in the shape of a notch right in the top middle where it is the most visible and completely takes away the bezelless experience?
Many interesting sliders coming up and the Honor Magic 2 is definetly among them.

I wonder how the 10GB is divided for the RAM is it 2GB, 2GB, 2GB, 4GB accross a 16bit quad- channel? Or like 1GB, 1GB, 4GB, 4GB?

Perhaps a hybrid tempered glass/silcone for the front and a classic one for the back... with the joints in plastic or teflon to slide better, who knows. More complex but plausible.

I guess you won't be buying a phone from 2019 onwards, right? Pity you could merely had bought an adaptor and be alright...
