73RR4N, 18 Oct 2018It's an overkill, that comes with two deal breaking flaws, ... moreTVs and monitors can be of a much lower ppi because we sit much further away and PC's tend to be used by gamers whose graphics cards struggle to power greater than 1080p and where higher frame rates may be more beneficial. As for TVs, our eyes do lose detail with motion although mpeg compression accounts for that.

For phones we look much closer and text is static and much harder to display than natural objects.

PPI and resolution are two different things and while 400ppi may be high for a screen, it's still a low resolution where webpages need to be down sized to fit the width in portrait mode which is how most people use their phones.

As for battery life, with Oled screens there's no difference according to tests by phone arena, with LCDs, there's a 20% difference but that's a price many are prepared to pay. As for performance, modern GPUs can easily handle 1440p resolution.

Before I bought my Nokia 7 plus, I was telling employees in a shop I was disappointed by the p20 being 1080p, one employee had to note 8 and the other had a p20. They were insisting you can't tell the difference and put their screens next to each other, I noticed the Samsung screen was running at 1080p, and asked him to go to the display settings in which it was and asked him to change it to 1440. We all noticed it was sharper but they didn't want to be wrong and he said but it's going to drain my battery and all that. They looked at me like I was a ghost and I told them to get their eyes tested. The third employee mocked the both of them saying they got told.

People look at 1080p TVs and monitors with an abysmal 80-160ppi, and it's ok. And you want the screen that will be more than 400ppi and for what? That the font and images will look a tidbit sharper? There really isn't much of a difference even when you play 720 or 1080p video on YouTube with 6inch mobile screen, everything higher is currently just not worth it, unless they'll put much beefier batteries.

It's disappointing how Chinese manufacturers are abandoning or not adopting Qhd.

You really can tell the difference and everything looks more detailed and sharper.

Tbh most people wouldn't notice the difference in speed between a mid range and flagship.

Snapdragon, 17 Oct 2018they should upgrade their phones to Android pie example mi ... moreIt's the future of connection, so I'd hardly call it a waste of time

Let's hope, if they don't plan to use MicroSD card, to have more than 64 Gb as a base model ... 128 should ne minimum and I expect/hope a 256 and 512 version then!

they should upgrade their phones to Android pie example mi max 3 instead of releasing phone nobody will use. no 5G network. waste of their resources

Sounds very promising, Huawei Mate 20 X just got a great rival :)
