Actually the caption translates to "(It) has its own filter" probably meaning that the photo is so good that it looks like there's already a filter on it.

Oneplus's whole concept was to challenge leading flagships in every aspect, that includes the camera. If they can't see themselves doing that then their phones are way overpriced. Which they are overpriced for what they bring to the table. Poco F1 just lacks the AMOLED panel but that is not reason enough to be charging 200USD more for the Oneplus phones.

Since most of the phones nowadays (even mid range devices) got nice/decent screens and solid performance for average folks, camera performance becomes more and more important and a differentiating factor .
People don't care to buy and carry with them another device for pictures, unless they are pros/enthusiasts so they rightfully expect their daily driver to take good memories for them, even in more challenging situations such as parties (low light) or sunny days (dynamic range) etc.
99 percent of people would benefit more from a better camera senzor than a flagship SoC .

Once again the internet know-it-alls do not disappoint. You want the best camera, this is not the device for you. The rest of us get that. You want to spend half as much on comparable toptier harware, this is currently the device to get.

I already know the shots will be mediocre, definitely acceptable for the price but that price keeps creeping higher and higher so at some point OnePlus's processing and software team need to get better / start hiring!

Sure... ONEPLUS never claimed to have the best Camera. but its much above average.
the OP6 camera is still rated in 12th place in DxoMark... with score of 96.
just above Note 8 and iPhone 8plus.
sure, it's not Note9, XSmax or P20 Pro... but it's quite high-end for 1/2 and even 1/3 the price of a XSmax or Mate 20 Pro.
it's you're a photographer, you probably don't rely on your smartphone for PRO shots, but it's you're an AVG camera user... i don't think you can call OP Camera a disappointment.

A long exposure mode ( available to any camera as long a the SW permits ) and post processing can't substitute a good sensor and optics ,so it's nice to have it but it can't magically turn a uninspiring camera to a good one.

I used Oneplus 5 and now usinf Oneplus 6. But not happy with Camera shots. This people are now just creating Hype and actual photograpy are getting down..... I will not suggest to buy OnePlus phones.
