Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 will shoot 960fps videos, another teaser shows face unlock

The official reveal of the bezel-less, notchless flagship draws near (it's this Thursday) and the teasers are coming more and more often.

I mean, throughout the years these custom sensors were used and stayed in Sony's high-end flagships (with some like the IMX300 being moved down to the mid-end smartphones). Yeah sure it does have built-in DRAM memory that's required to achieve the 960fps, but it's "exclusive" to their own smartphones only, so the only option is the IMX345, which is used in the GALAXY S9 series (for those who don't know, the HUAWEI P20 PRO's camera is in fact incapable of shooting 960fps, they're using a frame interpolation technique, which have most probably manipulated people in thinking that it have built-in DRAM memory like the XPERIAs and SAMSUNGs, which both houses the real built-in DRAM memory in the camera sensors). But we shall see the results after it's being released, things may turn out differently from what u and I are thinking

          Not only is the time quite longer than true 720p@960fps super slow motion video (from the S9/S9+/Note 9 and XZs/XZ Premium/XZ1/XZ1 Compact/XZ2/XZ2 Compact/XZ2 Premium/XZ3), but the quality isn't on par. If it's really 960fps, the water drops would be quite clear and distinguishable even when uploaded in lower resolution, while it's purely just blurry all over the place with this one.

            Marco M, 22 Oct 2018Sony has done a lot of things right over the past years, bu... moreWhat I like from notch is that it has made people appreciate large bezels more (most of the comments about a notch phone always say something within the lines of "I'd take large bezels over this hideous notch any day.")

            They're keeping the bezels for better practicality and durability of the device (Note 9's drop test proves it can be shattered easily, and while haven't been proven yet, the curvature of the XZ3's back makes it more likely to survive some heavy drops).

            I do agree that they have only gotten their cameras right this year, but that was the new CEO's move of motivating their software engineers to let the full potential of their hardware to go all out.
            I see a lot of upcoming changes to Sony Mobile by next year, given how much they've changed this year, and made statements as to how they haven't progressed much in years, which gives me the feeling that they've realized their mistakes already and is about to make a massive comeback by next year.

                  This is coming along to be one exciting camera. It may be the midrange smartphone of the year. Can see it eating big time into the One Plus market. Like a big fat chunk.

                    Looks exciting. I'm sorry, however that there is no new and powerful xiaomi developed process inside it ... gradually. SD845 is a good one yes, but still wonder,, with a firm that big.

                            Pretty much all modern flagships are Sony Xperia Z all over again. With waterproofing and glass backs.

                            Only downside with Sony has been mega bezels, and even now their slow at going bezelless.

                            It's also disappointing that despite having the best sensors, which they also sell to the others, they still don't fight for a top spot in the camera department. Is being a supplier more important, making them not compete with their customers?

                                I rarely use Face unlock on my Note9 because FPS is far more convenient. They should just add UD FPS so the front camera don't need to come out 30-50 times a day.

                                      Imx400 was made for Sony Mobile.
                                      Samsung has their similar ISOCELL also an EXMOR RS version. Both exclusive too.
