It looks like Huawei's Night Mode finally has a worthy rival.

      Thanks for the Apk!

And even if its daylight shots, it could help to make "noiseless" shots, like on samsung phones for example, but even if hw is capable, one would need his/hers favourite brand to be capable and enthusiastic enough. Similarly, great photos can be also taken with long exposure, in raw(for hi res monochrome, own processing), so just upping an iso+processing or giving new useless camera module with poor processing and poor "manual" capabilities, is not really helpful.
Still, looks great for action shots without going for manual, wish there was same love for colors in daylight shots, in which upgrade is felt only by getting bigger aperture. Wish someone would come with better sensor tech, similar to how sonys triple layer sensor and color captured feels compared to others... at least for me daylight is in the most of my photos.

It's like passing in school. One student studies hard to get good grades, while the other cheats to get the same thing.
And I'd rather have Google to follow the trend of improving low light photography instead of doing other stupid things like asking $1500 for a damn phone or creating a new memory card to fix a non-existing problem.

I have it on OG Pixel and it's crazy good. Happy for the xda/4pda for doing this!

did they just copies huawei's night mode? lolols, now who's copycat...

Huawei uses their AI stabilization to lessen the motion blur in their Night Mode photos. Google only relies on multi-frame image stacking technique, which isn't as effective in reducing noise, but enough to give better dynamic range. Its OIS can only go to some extent, and even some minor shakes would ruin the whole image badly.

I believe that it would be a great opportunity to use this method to the XZ2 Premium's dual camera. ISO 51200 could provide adequately enough light and details, but performing multi-frame image stacking on its hardware could make it even better.
Google has pretty much made the best out of their current camera hardware already in pure image quality, and they really need to do something big on the hardware aspect of the next Pixel phones in order to remain competitive.

Simply amazing Mate 20 vs Pixel 3 will be a perfect camera shootout and when is Pixel 3 review coming up on GSMArena?

This is awesome. I want this on my Galaxy Note 9

Night Sight is similar to Huawei's night mode which stacks short exposure images to reduce noise and blur, which is far more effective than simply shooting a single long exposure photo when handheld. Also take a look at the EXIF data of the photo of the flowerpots with the grass in the background taken with Night Sight, its using an ISO of 9552 which is ridiculously high, yet it manages to keep all the colours vibrant and retain reasonable amount of details. Google's software magic simply shines here.

So, good night mode, stock android.

Poor battery life, insane price, RAM management issues, dim screen (not horrendous, but below £900 phones), gestures only, worst audio in video recording.

This is not a photo of 3s but many of 1/5s, combined.
Still not better than Huawei's Night Mode nor Sony's UHS..

When some people said, 'my phone can do long exposure shot just like Night Mod in P20 pro too, nothing new'.

                              I just *facepalm*

We should be grateful that at least one manufacturer is focusing mainly on software for cameras. That too a software beast like Google.
Why? Because XDA ports of course!

( I know that maybe night sight might will rely on Pixel's Visual Core but a mere hardware component won't stand in the way of XDA X) )

Are this pic's handheld or tripod? Google is increasing exposure time in order to archive Night sight.

Well Google did something right with their phones this time around.
That and improved built quality are definite positives.

Awesome. After Google's excellent HDR+, I expected their Night Sight to be as good as or even better than Huawei's Superb Night Mode. I am glad that it is indeed the case.

To those saying their phones can do this with a multi-second long exposure, please educate yourselves. Long exposure photography is generally achieved only through proper stabilisation with a tripod etc, else even the slightest motion will result in a blurred mess.

Night Mode / Night Sight helps us to capture vivid, almost unreal photos at night even without a tripod and using only a steady hand. Despite taking multi-second exposures, it still compensates the slight but inevitable movement of our hands. This is a true game-changer. I believe that all 2019 flagships, should have such a feature.

It's nothing, even my oneplus 6 can took that night shot with pro mode (1 or 2) second shutter speed and the image is good bcz it's have ois
