It’s great to see Sony trumping Bose in ANC but not good to see Sony getting trumped by Bose in audio quality! Sony must come out of its bass obsessiveness in their earphones and headphones and provide natural and clean sounding cans. Bass of theirs is muddy and overbearing.

Which is more value for money. Perhaps I missed it but what are the prices of both these headphones and which is more bang for the buck.

I have to disagree with the audio quality part. To me wh1000xm3 sounds better than qc35. Sony also supports aptx hd and ldac, bose doesn't. However, from my experience quiet comfort is more comfortable than xm3. Don't get me wrong, I have both and they are amazing. Just want to express my opinion.

PA is so bias site that they reviewed this Sony paired with iPhone X instead of using an android to take advantage of LDAC.

Sony has LDAC that works on any phone that runs Android 8 or above.
Bose does not.
Game over...

Not sure about the statement that you had, the best if not the best noise cancellation headphones, pertaining to Bose and yet clearley the winner is Sony. Not sure whats happening but one thing is for sure. Most reviewer downplay Sony products nowadays, where in fact they're one of the pioneer of the tech industry.

I have the Sony M2's... Best headphones that I have bought. I often just turn them on the plane and not listen to any music. The M3's offer little improvement. I may buy the M4's if they offer some improvement in noise cancellation.

Thanks for the review! Always good to see products being superior than hyped products. Some of the hypes are ok, some not. However. THIS statement is strange:
"... and great, if not the best, noise cancellation." about Bose.
Later on, you'd pick Sony for sure when it comes to noise cancellation. So why would you mention "if not the best", when Sony is clearly ahead in this section (10/10 vs 8/10 according your opinion / review).

It does make sense that more aggressive noise cancelling means less accurate sound. I guess the Sony's are the new globetrotter favourites.
I was considering getting a better pair of noise cancelling headphones myself but I eventually decided on the Audeze Sines. Only the passive noise reduction that is on-ear cushions, but at least no permanent sound distortion. ...Planar-magnetics in a portable format doesn't hurt either... :P

Although i agree with overall comparison, i guess points and verdicts shouldn't be awarded like that for Audio Quality section.
AQ is subjective, what is great for one might be mediocre for other. Especially i find 80-90% people liking earphones/headphones with more bass heavy sound. For them(me included) that sounds the best.
Thought i should put up my point, no hate. Overall a great comparo

I would like to thank GSM Arena for this article. I love headphones. I actually have asked Santa Claus this year for a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort 35 1st ed. However, I eventually want a pair of the Sony XMS3, and a pair of Grado's.
