The debate between Sony's highest-end headphone and Bose's highest-end headphone continues. Ventilation inside is not a issue for me I guess? I've gotten used to it after using my H.EAR on 2 (wired) for quite a while now, wouldn't expect miracles since these kind of headphones cover your ears instead of covering the top of your ears because of the smaller ear cups like some out there. Both them are great, but when it comes to audio quality it's quite subjective, for me I chose Sony's audio quality over Bose's, because of how balanced it is when it comes to clarity and bass, plus I'm used to it. Until now, I'm still not a big fan of wireless audio yet, though I like it being cable-free (duh it's wireless), mainly because it doesn't sound as clean as wired

I tried someone's headphones for noise canceling 3 months ago. I had to get a pair. He was a techie. I said, Bose are the best correct? He said try the Sony 1000XM2's. I did and I tried the Bose Quiet Comfort 35II. Well, quick to the point, I chose the Sony for noise cancelling and new technology. The Bose had better sound quality, speaker quality for calls and had the name. I kept the XM2's for less than 30 Days because they came out with the XM3's. Sony totally upgraded the speaker quality and sound quality, more base! Noise canceling is the best of the two and they added the jack to connect by USB and audio for airplanes. Sony put a dagger in the Bose 35II with the new XM3's. I still stop by the Bose shop in the airport to make sure I made the correct decision, I did. I perceptively thought Bose was the best. They are great but totally loss this competition.

Abhi Dahiya, 29 Oct 2018That is what i am saying. Audio Quality is subjective. It c... moreYes, Sony has more bass heavy sound but the sound is not muddy for me. I don't like too much bass. Yes, I tried Boss and the sound is more flat, but still great.

So , you didn't mention any thing about charge and play at the same time.
In my experience QC35 doenst allow using it while charging.
Dont know about QC35 II and the sony's 1kM3 if they support playing while charging or not?

Its hard to tell which is better, but if one offers near hi res audio, I would go for those. If there was any reason to use different brand it would be lossless streaming or to try something new like surface headphones, with rotary and voice controls.

YogiBear, 29 Oct 2018Did you test WH-1000Xm3 with Walkman (S-MasterHX) on cable?... morePlease for a love of god, never test headphones with S-MasterHX.
Do you even know what S-MasterHX, Creative Crystalizer and other garbage do to a music?
If I am not mistaken, you can't even turn this garbage on, if you are streaming via LDAC.

The review is biased and backwards..
Sony’s headphones are designed for hi-fi which is why it has ldac.
24/96hz
Bose headphones are designed for good sound in a bad environment
So who ever was doing this test had bad hearing.. or is biased like a lot of gsm reviewers..
Sony 1000xm2 are better for sound quality than the QC 2
So unless Sony has gone backwards which I find hard to believe
Also the build quality of the Bose is know to be of much better quality than the Sony’s.
as said this reviewer should be fired..

Audio Quality is way better in Sony since the first generation compared to Bose QC 35 series.
I used a Bose QC 35 and then bought the MDR 1000 X and now using the 1000xm2.

AnonD-788311, 29 Oct 2018PA? What do you mean by that?
But I'm also a bit surpris... moreThat is what i am saying. Audio Quality is subjective. It can't be the same for 2 different people. Most of the people like bass heavy sound, so they prefer the Sony more.
And that is why giving verdict in AQ is a very bad thing.

Seriously? One buys a headphone for noise cancellation? No way! this is a very unbiased review. I did a thorough comparison of these two headphone for my purchase and I tested both in a fairly noise environment and there is a big gap of sound quality between these two. For me or any one who is purchasing a headphone, Audio Quality is paramount which is very natural. I would never compromise that for other add on like NC etc. In that way, Bose QC35II wins hands down. Sony sounded nothing like a good on ear headphone. I have multiple headphones including OTE Sennheiser and even without NC Sennheiser which cost well below the Sony sounds far better. Bose's history and its experience gives them a big advantage for making this a must buy for anyone who is looking for NC OTE headphone. I am listening to audio books a lot and I find the voice clarity is top notch comparing Sony. Sony sounds very harsh with its overwhelming bass. Bose and Sennheiser both sound very pleasing. The review is biased/flawed.

F@ck bluetooth, f@ck noise cancelling headphones. All these headphones had low volume level, weak amplifiers, are expansive. All you need is just a powerful headphones amplifier like Creative Soundblaster E1, E3 with bluetooth or Fiio BTR 3 Bluetooth and good sounding wired headphones.

Did you test WH-1000Xm3 with Walkman (S-MasterHX) on cable? If not (but only smartphones) this test is not full. Sorry but Sony headphones plays nice only with Walkmans with S-Master.

Whike NC matters, when you are paying this amount of Money, you expect top notch sound quality as well. Even the Sony MDR100 Wired headphones which costs around 200. sound better than this. Bose is better option hands down.

But I'm also a bit surprised especially in the Audio Quality rating. As most other reviewers have rated the Audio Quality of 1000xm3 higher than QC35.

Does the cushion on the Sony headphone can be replaced like in the QC 35 II?
