I personally own a qc35 ii & while I agree it does sound very neutral & good, most reviewers put Sony 1000xm3 above it when it comes to sound quality.
I'm not satisfied with my anc anymore. I have to try Sony's to judge, but most reviewers prefer it

It could very well be that you can hear more detail with true audiophile equipment, but I can guarantee you that no current Bluetooth headphone has comparable accuracy so I'll call your bluff. ;)
And again, 24-bit music above 50kHz is almost impossible to feet your hands on.

AnonD-762416, 30 Oct 2018Claiming you easily can hear the difference between 24-bit/... moreI think your ears are burnt out , I can tell the difference between apt hd vs ldac. , also due to the exnyos chips in Samsung phones in the uk you can’t use apt or even aptx hd , so I compared to a V30 over wireless and imo there defo a quality difference , but saying that.
As you get older you hearing gets worse and depending if you have blasted your ears.. with music so to you it may not be beneficial to your lucky for me... hope it stays this way .. I’m young and have decent hearing.. though I wish it was better... at higher frequency’s and worse at bass..

If I have to be honest, I wouldn't be able to do a blind test on 16-bit/44kHz and 24-bit/192kHz. I actually bought a few 24-bit albums this year for my FLAC collection just to see if the crazy price premium is worth it... The jury is still deliberating, but it doesn't look good for the expensivererer codec on my behalf! I might not have flawless hearing, but I did do a hearing test recently and my hearing line was surprisingly flat up to the higher frequencies, considering I've always tortured my eardrums with too loud music.
Just a side-note: Most 24-bit music you can buy is encoded between 44-48kHz. Making higher rate capabilities a bit redundant today.

Let us talk about wireless audio quality first. LDAC is much better than any other bluetooth codec, if you play lossless on your phone, you can easily tell the difference.
Hi-res is for audio quality in terms of give hi fidelity audio playback not sounds good. Hi-res and LDAC together give better high frequency, bass response, better sound field and details.
In a simple words, you have better quality of audio from x1000m3 with LDAC than SBC, ACC, AptX or AptX HD.
On the other hand, if you want the sound to please your ears, that's a different story. You can choose the fittest according to your personal preference. You know Apple have no lossless music yet, people still happy with it.

Take it from me. You are wrong about what you said about comfort. Bose is way better in terms of comfort. Watch youtube-reviwers.. most of them agree that Bose is best in terms of comfort. I personally had no problem using it for hours.
Now a honest drawback of Bose. At times I felt like bose had little more bass but that's when I wanted to keep the volume up when I felt electrifyingly excited, NOW THE TRUTH IS EVEN IF THE BASS WAS TOO HIGH I WOULD ENJOH IT FOR THAT 5MINUTES WHEN I AM BACK FROM WORK TO FEEL SUPER SHUFFLING', THEN I MAY GET BORE. COME ON, HOW could you listen to something for hours. It's painstakingly bad thing to do to your ears. When I mean that Bose is comfortable, I assure you one thing, the sound is something you could listen for hours.
Update. I stopped by a airport duty free shop to see how xm3 works, not only they said it is not working well, but it was a lot awfully hard on my ears, not at all a soft cushion Sony has placed in the ear cup. Then May be, I realised, after using Bose qc1 for such long time everything else would feel like hard cheap quality. I always want to hear more deep bass, then it struck me, for how long will I use TOO STRONG BASS EVEN IF I ENJOY, the question arises, answer is only till when your brain says stop it or you are gonna have a bad headache. Too long right. Thank gsmarena for such a topic. Like you I also would have favoured Sony in a honest sense, but that was way before I started using BOSE. Bose makes everybody feel they are Bose of their own lives.

Fearghast, 29 Oct 2018"Sony are classed as Hi-Res" ... :-D Mate, news flash for... moreI didn’t say the were audiophile headphones another label invented... so you used your own logic on yourself... well done also define audiophile headphones... is there even official standard.. or just made up bs... basiced on a load of reviewers. Also who defines the standard.. also why didn’t Bose use hi-res as a term of there headset I’m assuming it didn’t meat certain criteria’s... Also are you talking about the Bluetooth playback or via 3.5mm , as I bet you would find it hard to name another headset with as good Bluetooth playback even though yes it isn’t what is define by yourself as audiophile quantity..

Mate, news flash for you ... you ever heard of THX, Dolby etc. logos slaped on a audio product?
It does not mean it actualy sounds good.
PS: I own 1000XM2.
I personaly find Sony sound to be pretty OK compared to Bose, but audiophile headphones they are not.

I think most people hear are deaf.. or have extremely bad hearing.. there is less bass in the Sony 1000mx2 over the Bose qc2
Also the Sony are classed as Hi-Res
Bose ( good sound in a bad environment )
I assume if you think the Bose headset has clear vocals.. is because you hearing is bad that you can barely hear above 8hz the Sony headset has decent bass but if you have decent hearing it’s not over powering as such I would only assume the mids and bass is weak on the boss headset making it seem more clear than the Sony’s.

I have tested both numerous times back to back. I'm surprised the Bose gets the pick ahead of the Sony. The sound on the Bose sounded dead and lifeless. The sound on the Sony sounded dynamic and more lively. Both paired with my S9 running the same songs.

GSM Arena is very good as a smartphone compendium, and certain parts of the reviews of smartphones are also good, ESPECIALLY the photo compare tool. However, ever since checking out the flawed way they test "audio" capabilities at smartphone (checking cross stereo talk, volume levels and harmonic distortion instead of sound signature, openness and soundstage) I realised they have no idea what they're taking about when testing audio. And reading this comparison makes me even more sure about this.

Raj SB, 29 Oct 2018Seriously? One buys a headphone for noise cancellation? No ... moreYes, one buys headsets for canceling noise capabilities first, and sound capabilities second.
