I have a stock SGS, no rooting or other non-standard stuff. Using Kies has always worked previously. Wanting to get the upgrade I connected my phone and was greeted with "Kies up-date available". Now it is broken, I have tried several times to obtain the handset up-grade, usually no connection is possible so I have to use the "troubleshoot connection/reload drivers" option, which mostly does not work but on two occasions has resulted in a connection which brings the message "your handset cannot be up-graded through Kies"......what on earth is going on?

I live in SO CA, USA, Att is my carrier, and I have a Samsung captivate... I just recently installed a beta version of the 2.3.5 gingerbrea... its a ton better from a functionality standpoint; I noticed the glow at the end of lists, and a few other neat graphical updates... the is a problem with the tethering manager service so after, plugging it in, or a resart; it will force close but by the time I get to the list of running programs its gone and doesn't show any errors. Seems to b a much greater inprovment than the first firmware update

AnonD-19357, 19 Nov 2011This phone is a legend. The first monster is the Galaxy series. Yup, this was the proof that samsung was serious with the mobile business. It also set the bar for android handsets and was surpassed completely only by the galaxy s2. I hope this gets ICS as well either officially or via Cyanogen. :-)
