Apple and Huawei already released their 7nm chipsets, Qualcomm's chip isn't quite official yet.

        People are too ignorant. APPLE chipset after A9 is subject to heavy throttling. It can't run on sustained workload. Meanwhile after QSD 810 fiasco, Snapdragon quickly learn they must focus on sustained performance because that's the real thing. You can't lie on peak benchmark number forever. Sooner or Later. Now, Apple purposely sent update to throttle their old phones. Not really because of battery endurance (many people believe the opposite). Their chip can't be used on sustained performance anymore.

          then what makes apple can create a powerful mobile CPU while itself not a chip manufacturer?

But when you are buying a 1000$+ phone even thou you can't afford a McDonald's happy meal, or you are using it only for Facebook and Instagram, well that is not very smart.
              Yeah, people can do whatever they want with their money, but that doesn't mean is effective and smart.

                    In best performance, msmnile (maybe SD 8150) has 3697 for Single-core and 10469 for Multi-core (https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/9684512). Note that this numbers still in development stage, we don't have any gadget to be tested by our self. Yet, we don't know where to find FlexiPai, the first phone (or tablet) out there which used SD 8150.

Start with anandtech indepth iPhone XS review and listen to android authority’s Gary explaining why Apples chip are so fast. Software is a factor but its far from being the main reason A12 performs so great.

                          Not everything about Apple is bad. People need to stop hating everything associated with Apple, they do have their strong sides, iOS is really smooth and their chipsets are blazing fast, those 2 combined make a really god user experience, and iOS user interface also contributes to that further.

                                Qualcomm doesn't care. They pretty much have a monopoly on non-Apple phones. Kirin is Huawei exclusive, Exynos is pretty much Samsung exclusive (and Samsung still use Snapdragon too), Mediatek can only sell their low end SoCs. The rest is owned by Qualcomm. Just look at Android wear. That's a perfect example what would happen if Qualcomm has zero competition. Things will get only interesting 5 to 10 years in the future, when Xiaomi (hopefully) gets their Surge SoC going.

                                  Anyway just look at the die area of the Apple Ax chips and Snapdragon. Apple chips are huge with monstrous amount of cache and wide pipelines and are way more expensive to make than other chips which Apple subsidies by pricing their phones higher. Apple also got almost 2 year headstart so there's that.

                                  Yes Apple really is that far ahead hardware wise that the 8150 just now catches up to the A11 but not really there yet.
