02 November 2018
They are cheap and easy to make and can majorly enhance the current LCD industry.

I only have the brightness on max or max auto in strong sunshine, any other time it's set as comfortably bright as I like.

So... Maybe you should stop buying cheap Chinese or LG OLED phones and get the real deal next time?

There are other technologies too, IGZO is promissing also.

                      LCD is the best

The biggest advantage is the possibility to use static elements on screen for years without having the burn in issues of OLED. I still avoid OLED because no matter how good it is, burn in is going to happen after 1-2 years if you use static graphic elements, especially on high brightness.

It uses more power than LCD when image is majority white
Mobile oled has Pentile matrix, no RGB oled is available

The rest is based on your experience and your perception of reality.

Some people don't get it and think OLED is new and the end game. OLED is as old as LCD and both have their strength and weakness. OLED overtook LCD recently due to thinness and contrast but this doesn't mean LCD is done. mini-LED LCD will bring LCD much closer than OLED in image quality while have the advantage of being more durable, brighter and less maintenance. LED tech isn't stopping because companies are pouring money into lighting and those advances carries over to LCD display

Compelling. I'd rather have this than OLED. I'm not impressed with the display of my S8+, not as sharp as my Nexus 5 despite with not so perfect eyes anymore. Younger eyes will have this more noticeable.
The OLED display isn't doesn't go low enough displaying text with white backgrounds for reading articles in the dark.

What's even greater about MLED is that it has much higher yield that oleds, its main component, the BBC LCD panel is vastly cheaper to produce and with less defects.
As said in the article, this is definitely a game changer and afaik, they could even reach 1:1 ratio pixels:leds, which will effectively result in infinite contrast and Inky blacks.

                                        Oled is fail technology.
