Why I won't be buying the new OnePlus 6T even though it's a great phone

I bought the OnePlus 6, just because I liked the design of the back, I did not like the notch, so much that I will configuerei to hide that notch. Moreover, the smartphone is excellent in everything, super fast and beautiful to the extreme. As far as owning a slot, it would be a good one, to have IP68 certification, but for my use, that's great.

I feel the same with my Galaxy Note 4.
I'm waiting for a real big change to buy another phone. But still wondering...which one ? Which brand...?

I think the writer exactly matches my point of view. Oneplus 1 was a game changer, Oneplus 3 was refine ment. Post that every phone Oneplus made is slightly different interaction of the basically same phone. If you don't have it buy it. If you have Oneplus 3, I see no point in buying another Oneplus phone, just a few nano second of speed gain. Camera are still bad, vibration motor is still useless, Audio output from headphone jack still average... Oh! Not even a headphone jack in 6T.Guess their new moto is "if we can't make it great, just remove it". The good is always been great.... Speed, software experience, display, super charging speeds.
If they wanted a piece of tech from Oppo, they should have taken the Super VOOC charger. That would have been an upgrade. 3700 mAh battery charging fully in 35min is awesome. Perhaps better camera. Secondary camera that actually has some use. Dedicated DAC... Ah.. They have removed headphone jack. A proper vibration motor. There are so many areas of improvement. All they did is reduced the notch and replaced fingerprint sensor with a slower one. Brilliant.
I don't know why some people become so obsessed with the company they forget they are the consumers that put their money on the products. They do not own the company. Why get so obsessed with the company?

I prefer buying an entry level phone or a a couple year old used flagship (something under $200) and then upgrading every 6 months to a year. It's fun to compare different values of phones. But I definitely agree with the author. If you bought a brand new flagship any time in the last 2 or 3 years, there shouldn't be any major reason to update other than battery degradation or boredom. (super surprised 1+ did a free battery replacement. Weird but awesome)

whenever I decided to upgrade my phone I was dissapointed. Nexus 6p > honor 8 > Xiaomi Mi Mix1 > Mi Mix 2SE. All these phones are quite different (cept the latter), but still newer phones don't do it for me. I recommended the OP3 to a friend and he is still so satisfied with it. I can tell people: if your phone is great, use it! If your phone isn't great anymore: think about why it isn't great! New phones may not help you with those problems but have new ones. As for me, I want the Mix3, but then again, won't it collect dust and dirt in between those sliding shells? 6" is too big, the mi mix 1 was 6,4" and way too big. Is it worth upgrading from a 1 year old phone?! Am not sure anymore. Maybe I keep this little Special edition, it's still a great phone.

I agree 100% im still using Xperia XZ and can't find proper upgrade. Snapdragon 820 is still very fast soc and current trend with tall screens, glass backs and cutting features is awful. Midrangers have more features than flagships these days.

I agree 100%.. im still running my s6 edge from 2015. had it for 3.5years now, still does everything i want it to but only now the battery health is shot, cracked screen and the phone is slowing down and freezing alot, so it is time to upgrade for me, but seriously specs wise the S6 Edge still did everything i wanted it to and the camera is still a really camera.
my next phone i'll probably keep it for another 3 at least, even though i can afford to upgrade yearly i feel like its a waste of money and not worth it at all for such small changes.

I'm agree with the author of the article. If brands want us to upgrade give us enough improvements in your phones and stop send your crap employees and fans to harass and critique the author. We don't need waste our money in trend featureless phones. A small improvement in performance, useless second camera, and the remove of useful features with the stupid excuse of change the position of the fingerprint sensor... As if we are idiots and can't watch out there smaller phones with equally large screen, audio jack, several types of fingerprint sensors, big batteries, with more features that OP 6T lacks and even some with mechanical movements without internal space problems. You are not going to fool us again OP, sellers, etc.

My OP3 always looked better than OP5-5T-6. Not seen 6T but really no reason to really dump OP3 as the performance is still blazing fast. In last 2.5 years no problem whatsoever.

Im in love with my OnePlus 3T in the past years and I keep thinking which one will be the next - 5,5T, 6, 6T, mhmmm, they are not :)

It seems like Tich author could use Nokia 3310, and be just fine with it.
He is getting 2 days of battery life with OP3!?
So...he is not using it at all, or this using another devices and this one is just back up.

I don't understand the people who are making fun of writer of this article. The OP3 was released in June 2016, so it is slightly over 2 years old now. It is PERFECTLY normal to replace phones around 2-3 years, especially a phone like the OP3. It was overpowered for it's time due to having 6GB of RAM, which is exactly why it still holds well in general performance today.
Ignorant people seem to think it is required to upgrade your phone every 1-2 years, which is not true at all. Depending on the specs of the phone and the usage of the person, a modern phone can easily last a few years. You might need to replace the battery once or twice, but aside from that you should be fine. Upgrading is completely optional, unless you bought the wrong phone in the first place.

Seeing an opinion piece of such quality on the main site was the biggest disappointment I've had with GSMArena in my over 15 years with the website. Sharing such personal (and unpopular) opinions like "And if you are here to read the usual stuff like the lack of 3.5mm audio jack, wireless charging, microSD card support and water and dust protection, move over" does not belong on main pages on any websites. It's not even the thought that most people don't agree with this, it's just that it's offensive to most of the users. Telling them to "move over"? If you were my writer, you would be fired.

You know water resistance isn't really about using your phone underwater, right? It's so it can survive an accidental spill and so you can safely use it in the rain, the former of which can happen to anyone and the latter is useful to just about anyone.
