Samsung will show images of its foldable phone this week, talk about its UI

06 November 2018
Apps will need to be able to adapt from a phone screen to an unfolded tablet screen, so Samsung wants input  from developers.

Well if it bend only in a certain spot its not foldable but bendable phone.
For me a foldable phone will be flexible enough to fold anywhere withing the phone.
So we can make a roll like from paper and make a ball from a flat thats trully foldable.

Press F to respect the hinge design, if it is durable and tough.
      Even Samsung did.

Prepare for 8 - 9 inch fold phones.

If this is what it takes to make phones small enough to fix comfortably in one hand again, I'm all for it. As long as the width of the phone is 65mm or less when folded, I have no objections.

I already know with some people who can't wait for this to come out and become a thing.
Regular smartphones won't go extinct because of this, since they both have same functionality, just in a different form factor.
But, with time prices of regular smartphones will drop because of this new tech. And that's a good thing.
I don't want or need foldable smartphone, rarley anyone needs it, some people just want it, and many people will simply get hyped up by marketing or convinced that they need this.

Would be a huge fluke if it's actually just a really long clamshell which turns into 40:9 ratio phone when unfolded. As many said, give me a ZTE Axon M without the hinge, so that I can have a normal ratio tablet in my pocket when I want to read a book or something. I don't need that loooooooong screen for anything really. But tablet sized one? I would love that!

there is big problem with Samsung devices screen such as s7 s7 plus note 7 note 8 s8 s8 plus! after using device for 1 year there will be letters and frames appearing on the screen like its printed on it! i'm old Samsung user and if they don't fix this issue i would move to huawei devices of apple.

I would rather have a clam shell phone with two big screen that matched up nicely when unfold

Samsung will talk with developers. Most likely it won't be an Android phone with Playstore/Google apps support. It's possible it will run Tizen or an Android fork like Amazon's fire tablets.

why dont used foldable material on normal phone , if the glass can be fold , thats means it cant be break , right ????

                            - just my non logical opinion -

With the current technology that we have, there's definitely no point of making a so call "foldable" phone!

How can people not seeing this? I mean, no matter how much some people would like to see or have a foldable phone. It ain't the si-fi movie kind that we're going to have with the current technology for sure!

And it's very lucrative for a relatively low cost so it's not changing anytime soon. And the traditional console market is still going strong, it seems that gamers as a whole do not mind getting specialized equipment for a higher quality gaming experience and are willing to pay for it.

I'm not surprised anymore why manufacturers have come up with a concept of creating a foldable phone.

People was crazy about it, and are still are. I will never say that the first mobile game was useless. For something to become mainstream and to have a future, it shouldn't be an impractical, fragile gimmick. When I see the FlexPai, I still wonder who is going to buy this ... On the other hand, I was very interested in the ZTE Axon M, cause it way closer to what a "foldable" smartphone should do IMO.
