The era of notch-less edge-to-edge screens might be closer than we think.

I like the idea. Don't really like the curved edges though. My main gripe with Samsung too. Minimul bezel with straight edge would be best imo

Aaaaaaannd The first thing that came out in the market was Vivo, Huawei, Xiaomi or the brand that just came out, the first fodable phone. I forgot the name, but Previously it was reported that Samsung or Huawei will release it first but the fact is ...

They just lacked the idea, and software know-how. To me these are the easier parts of the equation.

LG's extremely close to catching up to Samsung's OLED using their own mobile LCD screens. So they may surprise us, and pull this feat off with mere LCD, definitely a hard task. Though they're OLEDs are much inferior on phones, quite an oxymoron as they produce the best quality OLED TVs.

Apple will probably follow suit in 2019 by using LG's and Samsung's innovation in their iPhones to get rid of the notch. Then again, 2019 is too soon for Apple... they'll likely stick with an outdated notch until late 2020.

Dude, 07 Nov 2018So is it truly under or is it just an ugly cutoutIt would still be an under-display front camera. There's a cut out only because the protective front glass would lessen the image quality attainable by the camera sensor, since the display itself already plays a big role on reducing the quality of the camera.

I don't expect to see a UD front camera for the next few years. I don't think the technology is quite there yet. I won't mind being wrong though, but i highly doubt seeing them anytime soon.

Still, good to know these companies are working on the tech, which means eventually we'll get there.
