Apple's T2 chip won't allow third-party repairs to your MacBook

But it also enables tons of security and non-security features.

Garbage. Again, Apple attacking third party repair so people pay them exorbitant fees to repair their devices.

If Apple succeeds in this, other scums will copy the business model and rip off everyone.

Good thing Right to repair is still ongoing. Though that law wasn't supposed to exist in the first place.

That's really really bad for Apple and everyone. Big mistake, Apple! They sell very expensive computers and still believe that buyers are not lawful owners of what they bought. I believe that I must have full rights to do with my computer whatever I want and fix it wherever I want or even by myself. At the same time Apple do not perform real / component level repairs at all. They are just stupid swappers of parts for insane amount of money. This kind of job can do intermediate scholars with minimum training!
Waiting for numerous lawsuits against Apple!!! They truly deserve it this time.

This is perfect! Our data will be secured tightly in my device and no one else can ever have access to it by installing custom-made hardware to the device.
Glad that Apple is taking so many steps in the right direction of protecting their users' information and preventing hacks and leaks. Kudos to Apple!

And for all those who use windows and/or android - enjoy you straw huts "protecting" your data and personal information. It's nice being able to repair any holes in your huts so easily.
Whereas Apple is building vibranium fortresses enforced with lasers and self-destruct mechanisms.
But yeah... straw huts are so much cheaper than vibranium fortresses.

So basically developing markets can go to hell. Apple was always for the financially comfortable individual anyway. I dont see the sense in purchasing their products as a Nigerian. USA and the likes can have fun. I would rather buy a ROG laptop with that money anyway

So basically T2 chip prevents thiefs/fishy 3rd party repair shops from directly accessing SSD to salvage the data contained inside, or attaching modified version of components that might have a backdoor baked in. I honestly don't see what's the big deal about this.
I mean if Apple allowed people to use the unofficial, uncertified components and somebody managed to find a security hole to steal the data through them, you guys would be all over the place and start blaming Apple for putting users' personal information at risk, right?

Classic. The bad thing is that apples trying so hard to get some extra cash from repairmen while the good thing is that security is tighter for consumers.

Dunno about you guys but I honestly don’t care about the repairmen since I’m just a consumer that cares about privacy and security.
