Samsung's foldable Galaxy F rendered in 3D

14 November 2018
The company has filed many patents for the various design elements needed for this phone to work. This render is based on those.

If they cannot make it flat when folded in and leave such an ugly gap, why don't the just make it fold out? Save the need for secondary screen :D

Some may ask where to place the camera? I don't mind leaving some space at the top and bottom for them since the screen is big once opened! Save the need for secondary camera, the main camera can be used for selfies too :D

Anonymous, 15 Nov 2018Everybody complaining about the screen size in tablet mode ... moreExactly. It's like the curved edge screens we have now on all the Samsung flagships. When it was first release on the Note Edge it was garbage. Need to give it a few generations for it to improve.

Imperator Neubaticus, 16 Nov 2018congratulations! you win the nonsense post of the day award! That you very much, but I must respectfully decline such a prestigious award, since clearly you deserve it much more than I do.

But seriously, a tablet is simply a larger phone. So it makes sense that not many phone owners also buy themselves a tablet. Why have two separate devices that are basically the same? That's why foldable phones are awesome, since they can give you the advantage of a tablet (larger screen) without having to buy an actual tablet.

it's like having a tablet without actually having to deal with the inconvenience of carrying a real one. the product is definitely niche but it has loads of practical uses.

There should be no gap when it's folded. If there's gap - that thing will get damaged in the pocket.

sumi, 15 Nov 2018why on earth anyone would need this? The same thing was said when the tablet was released.

Let's put it simple and honest. Pathetic device.

My main concern for foldable phones would be the joint areas. Wouldn't prolonged folding cause fatigue to the screen and device?

still a waste of space putting tablet form factor over phone. I don't think this will work on the market. People barely use tablets in everyday life.

Which is also to blame for having the laptop market getting stuck on thin and light but throttles like hell consumer grade products.

                                And yes, fruitbooks included.

Looks like Microsoft bendable Wedge Mouse which looks ok for sometime after that the top cover bumps up unless the foldable joints are fitted with a proper material it may peel-off after heavy use. The render looks good on the inside but the outer display could be little bigger or more useful since for making calls, you cannot use it unfolded way

Kiyasuriin, 15 Nov 2018Wow. The bezeks in the outer screen are massive....What would be more interesting is the development of double foldable hinges with stretchable display design shown here https://www.gsmarena.com/new_samsung_patent_shows_off_dual_foldable_display_design-news-34200.php
Imagine 5.1" 16:9 screen when folded and 9.06" 16:9 screen when unfolded.
Screen dimension when folded 2.5" by 4.44"
Screen dimension when unfolded 7.9" by 4.44"
                                        ([2.5" x 3] + [0.2" x 2] = 7.9") 0.2" for the screen over the foldable hinges.
With 5.1" the device is really pocketable when folded and with 9.06" when unfolded it is a sizable tablet. Overall thickness when folded would still be less than 10mm.
