AnonD-775401, 28 Nov 2018Negative stuff in this device: 1- tall device & screen... moreAgree with some, disagree with others. Here is how must be made MY perfect SONY phone:
1. Size 140-145mm x 68-72mm x 8-9mm. Shape of XZ Premium;
2. Screen size: 5-5.5" AMOLED screen, with small bezels, but can have top and bottom bezels for the speakers. Not curved, NO NOTCH;
3. Fingerprint scanner: side mounted or under the screen. NOT ON THE BACK;
4. Front stereo speakers and louder at lest with 50% of my XZP;
5. Camera - don't care single, dual, triple - to be on par with Mate 20 Pro, iPhone XS and Pixel 3XL. Not to have hump if possible or at least to be small one. Keep camera button.
6. Materials: NOT FRAGILE GLASS BACK. Use metal or polycarbonate if you like, but not that stupid and fragile glass. It takes smudges all the time. I do not like to wear a case. Metal frame;
7. IP68, headphone jack, color options with better variety.
8 Bettery: at least 4000mAh or suitable to last full two days.
That's pretty much all. Or at least 98% that i wish for my SONY phone.
OS is snappy, still waiting for Pie update on my XZP, but will come. No complains.

    Negative stuff in this device:
    1- tall device & screen, this is a phone not a phablet for god sake
    2- lower speaker placement is a disaster
    3- Side fingerprint sensor! sometimes it gives me a headache in my XZ premium, further more it's too close to the volume rocker !!!!
    4- Bumped cam...
    the rest if fine by me, am happy SONY is still not using the notch. I don't care much about headphone jack & seriously I don't care about any bezels...

            Anonymous, 28 Nov 2018Why do you think Apple killed SE? Sales of small phones ar... moreAt least 5% of mobile phone customers want one hand operating phone.
            How much is SONY market share this days? Their forecast for 2018 is to sold 9 million devices!?! ONLY 9 million. They don't have even 1%!
            And I'm SONY user. Not hater. Just disappointed customer. My XZP is very good as a whole, but have it is own issues. Especially with the camera. XZ2, XZ2P are too fat and rounded for my taste and FPS positioning is deal breaker for me.

              Anonymous, 28 Nov 2018Why do you think Apple killed SE? Sales of small phones ar... moreMore option is always better.
              Just because something is declining, doesn't have to mean that they must be completely abandoned already. There are still many users of that category, but their tiny group is invisible to us because of how few they are.

              Year by year, less and less people are using the 3.5mm jack. Should we kill that feature now because of it?

                Akai, 28 Nov 2018I see flat screen (flat>curved anyday in week), but its ... moreThey would definitely ditch it next year. It was probably just Sony's experiment, because somehow, Samsung's sales showed that people preferred the curved screens over the flat screens.
                Sony then realized that it wasn't practical and may no longer offer it in the future again.

                I don't have issues with rear fingerprint scanner, but the best place IMO would be on the side.
                Think of it, it doesn't consume that much space, making bezel less designs still very possible. It doesn't cost that much to make and repair either, and the thumb would naturally fit on it when it's on the side. It's also very unique, and people that have no idea that it's there wouldn't be able to mess up with your phone.

                  Nick Tagataka, 28 Nov 2018Unfortunate fact for you is that all smartphones from Xperi... moreAnd that's also where Sony outshines the competition.
                  Its performance in higher ISO is much better than anyone else in the same value.
                  The XZ3 at ISO 3200 has better image quality than the S9 at ISO 400 with f/1.5 lens.
                  I don't get how the XZ3 isn't considered to be a great low light shooter, when it really does a phenomenal job for a phone that doesn't even have OIS.
                  If GSMArena Photo Comparison Tool Chart isn't enough for you, then Pixel Peepers would easily confirm my claim to be true: https://youtu.be/Rfykvyh-IVU
                  Only iPhones, Pixels, and Huawei P & Mate 20 Pro can beat the XZ3 in this department by a little bit of margin, and that's to say, those are already the best shooters available around, and so the XZ3 keeping up with them only shows how great of a camera it still is.
                  Of course their software isn't perfect yet, but they're nearly there, and it will just get even better next year on this triple camera setup.

                          If this is true, then it is obvious that SONY doesn't know what to in the mobile division.
                          First, they move FPS on the back and back side mounted. It shouldn't be on the back in first place.
                          Second, removing the headphone jack - just to follow stupid Apple trend is hilarious. Not to mention that especially for SONY 3.5 headphone jack is the key to company success in first place.
                          Third, 6.4" display is like a tablet. Again just following trend without to think first. People are screaming for one hand operating device. Like iPhone SE. Apple made a mistake not to present successor of that device. SONY compact phones was only option, but they abandon even that.
                          Is it so hard to made 5-5.5" bezeless phone with headphone jack, stereo speakers, very good camera and good battery life?

                            Shanti Dope, 28 Nov 2018U have a good point, and I'd actually agree, IF you were NO... moreUnfortunate fact for you is that all smartphones from Xperia XZ series have a tripod mode which uses slower shutter speed and lower ISO value to reduce noise, and on GSMArena's camera comparison chart phones are tested while mounted on a tripod. So in most real life situations, they perform significantly worse because they have to rely on higher ISO to compensate for the hand shake caused by the lack of OIS.

                              I see flat screen (flat>curved anyday in week), but its weird are they gonna ditch side sense that was introduced in curved screen xz3?
                              Also the camera sensor is only 1 here could it be only laser AF? what about the 3d scanner thing? Finally that side FP is meh, somehow makes the right side soo crowded. Should be on the back like Xz2 & XZ3 but place it little higher.

                                So design wise it's basically Note 9 without S-Pen but with triple camera setup and side-mounted FPS. Some may call generic but personally I like it. Now Sony, fix your goddamn camera software and I'd be all happy with your new phone!

                                  Anonymous, 28 Nov 2018Download the samples of XZs review... They are not better t... moreMainly because its software isn't as advanced yet as the XA2.
                                  Let Sony try to maximize the hardware of both sensors and you'll see what I'm talking about.
                                  Besides, the first generation of IMX400 must be compared to the first generation of IMX300 instead of its third generation.
                                  The XZs picture quality will blow the Z5 picture quality away, it wouldn't even be a comparison.
                                  The XA2's third generation of the same sensor must be compared to the third generation of the same sensor of the XZs, which is the XZ3, and look how much better the latter is.

                                    They might even incorporate their Acoustic Surface technology this time, hence the move of the bass speaker to the bottom.

                                    Before you somehow give an impression on something, you try to at least see the reason behind it.

                                        Some people could settle for a bending piece of glass with the iPhone notch and Samsung curved sides and a display that's very environment-friendly (if you know what I mean, u know, green tint, LOL).
