I doubt that they're purely for microphones only, because then they'd be way too large. They may have even moved the secondary microphone next to the camera as well for even better sound recording.

As a proud owner of the XZ3, I have to say it almost flipped from my hand a couple of times due to the fact that is almost too tall. I could not possibly imagine one-handed usage of an even taller phone. XZ3 is already an awesome device that lacks a few features, but an extra CM in height is not even close to fix it.

Tell me lies, tell us sweet little lies! It should be a headphone jack port, no doubt! Removing it since XZ2 is a risk and Japanese fear the risk.
