Looks like more than half of the population c... moreAt this moment the AI software is almost inexistent... only used in photos/videos... and google duplex(not the google assistant)... other things don't need special AI hardware... so at this moment... this hardware is almost useless and used just in benchmarks........
Hope in future we will get really good stuff in the AI domain...

But it looks like you have been bitten the marketing monkey banana. What was this survey, what were the questions. I used to do surveys, and you have to be very careful with the questions in order not to get the results you want.
Most AI at the moment is done on the cloud, using cloud data, and it's woeful. Google reported it's ai in search had the intelligence of a six year old. How well do you think a phone is going do at this stage, if server farms deliver that level. There are some things that can be done on the phone, but probably don't need an AI chip to do so. Most/all the examples given, don't need an on phone ai chip, and can be done other eays. Its probably immature. But one day they will figure out how to do it better, then it will matter. Your phone will be like siri, but Better and more personal with your data.
Now, sure if you ask young people if they want artificial intelligence and they think you are talking about something far better than reality, sure most people will want it. But when they see it is mediocre, and marketing, then they will be less impressed. When we get 10x battery capacity from silicon nano wire batteries, and faster cooler lower powered circuit technology, then sure go for it, you can put in over 10x more and still geynthe same battery life with this stuff going around in the background interpreting your life, watching you and reporting back yo their cloud masters about what you are up to saving them billions by getting your phone to run ai interpretation on your life, rather than them buying more servers to do it, then they only have to receive a summary and highlights. What did you think this mediocre amount of AI power was about globally, spying and selling to advertises. What arebtje emotions behind your words, did yiubsay anything significant fur spying, his did your movements, walking and teaching out never in the shoo for what simply by sensing placement to shop WiFi, phone ireintstion smd shift from a reach. What did you pickup at home clanking around, howvmany times did you then get a cup and boil a kettle, his many yioley, how sleeping, his your response to events and news. Recognising others on the room, and in the 24/7 on camera and microphone. Easily enough to figure out your political leanings and some secret desires, and stack the public service with supporters and deny you that job. Most of this stuff can be greatly helped by a little mediocre AI doing the surveling work on your phone.
Another prime example, an AI in your health app, pretty much mostly uneeded there, but people answering the survey won't realise that. But it seems good, nice, and marketable. I'm looking forwards to AI that knows me, that can firewall my data privacy and help me and converse with me in an intelligent smart way to do online work for me, schedule things, and personal paperwork, so I can do other work. Even write code for me, or a web page, useful non spy stuff. Do ordering of groceries, with my approval, pay bills. Anticipate something is wrong, or is happening and take action (maybe somebody has fallen in the next room). I can converse with and figure things out using my personal information, or information in repository or on the net. Useful non mediocre spying things. Next decade we may get the hardware to do that in a phone, the software might take longer.

P90 should be great.
I know Mediatek isnt top notch CPU and GPU maker but phones with those SOCs havent much problems working.
Compared to other top companies which have problems even immediately after release such as charging problems on a 1500+ eur devices.

Benchmarks show the AI performance of this chip to be on par with the SD8150 and way ahead of cheating, lying Huawei. If only there was a competitive GPU Mediatek could use that's better than the crappy Mali. Adreno is light years ahead.

(I did use a Helio X30 device. The graphics felt about the same as an adreno 330 paired with Snapdragon 835's CPU)
Utilisation of A35 is a great choice. But the bar for swapping to A53 when I was still doing relatively light tasks was too low)

Kiyasuriin, 30 Nov 2018What about the X40? Still a rumor, I believe they will keep their words on staying at P series at least until next year. Their X series are "broken". Their CorePilot system, even at their last version, proven to be be a bad battery eater (better stay at low frequency than totally killing/reviving in a short period of time). The GPUs are weak for flagship level. P series are good value for money, cheap with decent performance, rivaling similar one from Qualcomm (P60 is a little less than SD660, P70 is the same up to a little more than SD660). Their biggest homework is still releasing source code to comply GPL, they did promise to do this better but until now it's not yet fulfilled AFAICS.

The X series wasn't found to be successful vs the competition (due largely to manufacturing options disadvantage), but the P-series has proven a decent mid value proposition for many and thus has had success with phone and tablets for their customers e.g Amazon and Alcatel etc.
They may go higher end again when their manufacturing options become more competitive since Apple, Samsung, Hwawei and Qualcomm take all the premium performance capacity.

Triangles in the right place, possibly slanted orbs in the right place and other geometrical build of shapes of a cats face versus other animals, right down to geometrical extensions onto the orb shape to make it cat like. If the face in front if you approximates this pattern of shapes, it probably is a cats face and if the others approximate dogs, they ate probably dog face. Now, extend this to 3D shapes and you recognise cats from different angles. Now add skeleton gestures, mophing (breathing, skin stretching for moving, tongue and lip movements, sounds etc) for identifying in different postures and gait of movements, you can identify cats all over the place and individual cats. That could be programmed on a GPU/CPU combination with high accuracy less likely to drift with new samples unless new variations are approved as the shape declared. Seems to be a better way to do it, with little extra hardware past GPU and maybe raytraced GPU which can accommodate lighting to resolve the shapes identity. The version of AI now popular, is still needed, but there is more to it. A lot of stuff can be done other ways. Let's look at signatures. They can drift but there are rules there as with the cat example, the signature is a series of turns and curve movements and directions. Like with writing, you can use these patterns to determine if two signatures that look different are likely the same signature written differently. The mind works b setting these turns, curves, directions and lines, but may not perform the tasks always the same, but usually always with these same points. It is like finger prints, rather than use everything experts look for a number of points to determine a match. So, your cheapest smart phone should be able to do some sort of AI, even a basic Sinclair zx-80 computer should be able too.
What I would say in current AI, without looking into research over the past decades, is it is being trained which leaves a soft pattern if impressions/bounds of these sorts of rules, but delicate, maluable over time. If you could make a robot cat like that perfect (very hard/lots of training) and gave it to me (this is the fun bit for me) I could have it convinced to act like a parrot by retraining it. Even if you made it resistant to retraining, just by training it more those fuzzy rule bounds could be mucked up, and it thinks its like a parrot. If you completely lock it down, it is still getting outside stimulus when its doing stuff. By having actual bounds, you can gate lock changes, and pass changes and flexibility through when approved. Say the cat learns to negotiate around the obstacles of the house walking. It might develop an impression of sense of how to do it without violating the rules unless needed, until such time as it deems these to be norms to use (lower order rules). Here we have a multilayered hierarchy of thoughts determining bounds and rule usage. Now, is it possible to do such a cat with with a cheap mobile smart phones chipset, yes. How good it will be i don't know. The recognition of.the world, and patterns of things and learning is rather significant, the resolution of recognition and rule sets might have to come down a lot. A cat that might see in 160*100 points might be a bit fuzzy dumb and slow (use a bigger phone). While my system is digital, the network operates analoguely and the proportional weightings add flexibility. My general pupose hardware array proposal, which could be used for AI, is meant to take low energy arrays of millions to tens of millions of processors, and more on next generation magnetic computing technology, cellular dot automata far greater than that. The cat could take all the current computer processing power of the planet
