You can compute dynamic range, but you can't compute detail. Also, Pixel photos tend to look more like waterpaintings than photos, occasionally. Even 10MP Mate 20 Pro photos have more detail (seems like high MP quad bayer nevertheless is helping :) ).

Nobody is researching with Xenon flash - the only way to get the perfect night shot.
Daylight shot is ok in all flagships...no need to worry abt that.

Have we learned nothing from the Megapixel Wars?
48MP photos uploaded to instagram dont mean anything. Wheres Xiaomis answer to Huwawei and Googles Nightshot modes?

MadMel, 05 Dec 2018good...all those 12MP cam. galore is BORING.What is boring about one thing that is finally not shouted bad by fandroids who think higher numbers are better? With cameras, you can not simply say "this has more Megapixel than that, this is better". Instead, you are forced to actually look at real world results. If this was true 3 years ago, I would not have bought the Xperia M4 Aqua for € 279 three years ago, because that phone was hot garbage and worse than the iPhone 5 that preceded it in every way.

And at the same time, Google Pixel3 offers an astonishing quality image with only 12MP. In photography, size does not matter...

Megapixel count is nice thing but what truly matters is sensor size. (Also, high MP count with quad bayer sensor is more like a gimmick. One should divide given MP count with 4 to get real MP-s.) Mentioned almighty Nokia 808 (which i still use as primary cameraphone) has 1/1.2" CMOS sensor with pixel size 1.4um. Quad bayer sensors with pixel size 0,8um aren't even close.

Companies like xiaomi, ZTE and huawei had already spilled the beans by conducting espionage and infiltrating to users data. I would skip them anyday. The upcoming Nokia 9 would be an ideal choice.
