OnePlus sold 249% more 6T units in the US than 6, doesn't rule out smaller phone for the future

The company's CEO made some interesting remarks in an interview today.

Other OEMs, including their sister company found various ways to make it work and include a headphone jack. Lau is full of crap. Made fun of Apple...to copy Apple. I can't respect OnePlus.

With again, a bigger battery, no notch and a small pop up solution. Yes, the second Nex has less battery at 3500 mAh, but the 6T could only muster 3700 mAh? That's...not a big difference. They could have, but they wanted that Bluetooth money like Apple.

"Lau did once again address the removal of the headset jack in the OnePlus 6T, saying that "it was a very painful decision", but one that needed to be done - "as the screen gets bigger and bigger, with a bigger battery, it limits the space" inside the phone. He conceded that the company can't satisfy everyone."

Typical BS statement from other manufacturers that follow (Cr)Apple's "COURAGE" cult. So if the company can't satisfy everyone, why remove the 3.5mm jack in the first place??
Lau said it was a very painful decision (at face value), but I think deep inside his heart he is really LAUGHING TO THE BANK$$ with his "ignorant" One**** hardcore fans buying it as if it has "new" tech from each generation of OnePlus devices.

I really appreciate OnePlus 6T and their OxygenOS.
But headphone jack removal reason is not satisfactory.
I don't know how they design but Galaxy Note9 comes with bigger screen, bigger battery, headphone jack and S-Pen space. Yeah Note9 does not have in- display fingerprint sensor.
OnePlus said that they are Community driven.

Very disappointing to see. This just means that companies can remove as many features as they want and people will still buy the product.

Anonymous, 12 Dec 2018What about Vivo. That's sister of one plus...Vivo is more like aunt, not sister. Vivo is sister of Oppo, which is parent of OnePlus.

OnePlus is on their way to Stardom!

You have to remember that the OnePlus has an in display fingerprint reader (Mate 20 doesn't). And that Huawei also tried to save space by pushing a PROPRIETARY removable storage solution because their module was 35 percent smaller than a microSD card module...

I don't even look at this brand

Ban OnePlus ! They spy our bathroom and toilet haha

The bigger the physical dimensions of the phone the less space there is inside? Interesting

Pete Lau is full of crap. I'd respect him more if he just said "we want the Bluetooth money that Apple and everyone else is getting." Even more hilarious, their sister company Vivo made two full screen phones without notches and a headphone jack and a decent sized battery. The Huawei Mate 20 non-pro has a 4000 mAh battery, is 6.5", same notch design and headphone jack. The Note 9...has a headphone jack. Both LG phones, headphone jack. Lau looks even more ridiculous the more he brings this up. For that reason, I cannot support OnePlus. The McLaren edition looks good, but I'd rather get the current Vivo dual screen model and root it than deal with Lau and his boneheaded explanations.

Truthfully, they were never going to continue to cater to enthusiasts or they'd be dead in the water. No headphone jack, no buy. So the Note 9 it is for me.

I expected the OnePlus 6t to better the 6, and so on and so forth. They are getting bigger. And their marketing is huge now (remember the OnePlus Two marketing, anyone, no??).

They have transitioned from the non-profit enthusiasts market, to the for-profit regular consumer market. No surprises whatsoever, and its what they should be doing as a for-profit business. Doesn't mean as an enthusiast that I personally like it or approve.

Lies and more lies about headphone jack. We know it's oneplus's parent company who controls the hardware department, and Pete doesn't have the voice to change their decision on removing the headphone jack. So just lies to hide his incompetence. I'll give the bigger screen = better battery life though. Btw, I've moved from OP to Pocophone just because you didn't listen to us and Xiaomi did.

I'm really surprised how well the OnePlus is doing. It's now hanging heavily on marketing. Basically they succeeded with the strategy of putting flagship Chipset, good battery and screen, in a beautiful casing for lower than flagship price. The issue is that the other components like camera, microphones, speakers, vibration motor etc. are just terrible, camera only sort of.
