I experienced the flagship X30 with Meizu Pro 7... it felt good but had it's hiccups from time to time which annoyed me. However when in UPS mode (Ultra Power Saving) the A35 cores do some awesome job as it's 10nm fab.

Is Mediatek done with Helio X series? They offered incredible performance, but could only be found in like 2 or 3 devices and that was about it. Where's the catch that basically no one uses them despite it being really good?

I'm actually really wanted these Helio phones (P60 and later) so badly since its pure A75-core in cheap price. Unfortunately, its phones always combined with mediocre camera, moreover that it has no Google Camera support.

Also, is it just me or i thought Quad A72 Big core to Dual A75 Big core with only 100Mhz clock increase is a downgrade?

Shanti Dope, 13 Dec 2018Wait, so you're saying that this phone roughly has as power... moreGPU isn't the only factor in recording, your DSP, camaera sensor, and the bandwidth between all of that need to fit the data rate needed to record it all, the S8 with the SD835 had a more powerful GPU but its bandwidth didn't allow for it to shoot 4k@60, while the exynos S8 with a slightly weaker GPU could with a few workarounds (samsung disabled it to keep both products equal in features)

Kiyasuriin, 13 Dec 2018the CPU is good atleast. an awesome compatitor with SD710 (... moreWhat are you even going on about? SD625 tier GPU? please don't spout uninformed opinions, the GPU in the P60 performed on par with the SD660 in the Mi A2, the figures for the PowerVR GPU put it considerably ahead of the P60's GPU, so this will exceed the SD660 and perhaps compete with the SD710 too.

Shanti Dope, 13 Dec 2018Wait, so you're saying that this phone roughly has as power... morewell... FIRST OFF. I used raw calculation power to compare. (GFlops count/TFlops. and MT/s) so hehe~
                    Hmm...
first off~ http://prntscr.com/luhc6m this image compares the 710's GPU to Kirin658 that is nearly 2 years old.
and PowerVR's site itself compares the GM9446 to the GPU inside the 660 or so. (in an indirect way)
                    proof: https://www.imgtec.com/powervr-gpu/gm9446/
ALL in all. since it's clocked at a crazy high 970 MHz. most of it's efficiency would be lost. so the actual performance achieved is about the same as 625 or 626. so comparing K710 to MT-P90 would result in Kirin 710 being on top more or less.
(to achieve the PERFECT rate of efficiency/performance. the optimal frequency is around 740 MHz for it)

                      Snapdragon Killer

Kiyasuriin, 13 Dec 2018the CPU is good atleast. an awesome compatitor with SD710 (... moreWait, so you're saying that this phone roughly has as powerful GPU as the Adreno 506 inside the SD625 and SD450??
And it also means that the Adreno 506 is more powerful than Mali-G72 MP3??
I guess that explains it already, as to why my Redmi 5 Plus is capable of recording 4K video while my friend's Oppo F7 can't do it.

As for Kirin though, how would you compare this PowerVR GPU to the Mali-G51 MP4 on the Kirin 710??
I want to know because I'm really shocked, knowing that all this time, my phone has had a better GPU than many new mid range phones today.

In my opinion, there are some mistakes about GPU...
4 cores PowerVR is Closer to old gen Mali with 8 cores.
(New gen G76 is twice bigger than G72)

30fps are announced on Gfxbench Manhattan...
                          Compare to about 33fps on SD710, 14fps on SD660 or 11fps on HelioP60

indiefund, 13 Dec 2018Bring back the good old X series. P series is not competit... moreNot going to happen. both X20 and X30 based devices had horrible core management, and consumed as high as x1.9 the power the company promised it will use. (which is BAD)
as someone who used a helio X30 device. (Meizu Pro 7). I can tell you. you can feel the lag when the chip does the switching from A35 to A53 to do the heavier tasks, and the swap to higher cores when the 2 big A73 gets in. RAM management was decent-ish. and the GPU felt some strain in my sessions.
                            I never experienced the X20 so I can't judge. ^-^;

the CPU is good atleast. an awesome compatitor with SD710 (with SD625's GPU Level)
(if i recall correctly. An A75 core ticking at 2.2GHz squeezes out around 2150 points in geekbench.)

15% improvements is pathetic. And clocking it to over 900mhz will make its efficiency bad

P series is not competitive, why these and not a cheap last year's Qualcomm, I see no reason and as usual will get implemented only from second class manufacturers
