450 dollars in China is a good price, but surely much more in other countries...where Huawei has very good phones for less than 300 dollars.

Lenovo *Z5 pro was annouced for 400 initial price.
Samsung device looks laughable compared to Z5 pro GT.
Maybe for 300 would be a good price.
Even xiaomi Mi 8 SE offers better specs for a 200 less in price.
And xiaomi is a lot better brand at least they wont rob its cuustomers.

No 3.5mm jack, uses display hole for front camera, NO BUY. Period. People in China MUST DITCH this brand for another brand that keeps BOTH 3.5mm jack & microsd slot as STANDARD at the same price or at a lower price point. This will send a POWERFUL, LOUD & CLEAR message to CEO of Samsung Mobile DJ Koh.
By selling this "cheap", is Samsung Mobile hoping that these will sell well to "justify" the removal of the world's most popular 3.5mm jack on their upcoming flagship??
If true, this is SCARY indeed. I MISS the times when Jk Shin was the CEO of Samsung mobile back then. He often insists on giving CHOICES in their smartphones unlike DJ Koh who wants removal (albeit at a SLOW pace) of CHOICES from consumer.

Also the display is AMOLED in A9 as well as a bigger battery, so at least three things that add to the price. But yeah, still strange to have a higher SD710 on A8s vs A9.
A9 may have quite thick bezels, but at least it's screen is complete. Whilst the camera hole in A8s by all means is less intrusive than a giant notch, it's still an element that disturbs the full screen viewing experience.

Camera is positioned lower than the display in a cutout, not under. If i can see it then it's not under.

What exactly is the point of this if the display ends up with a hole in it?
The only way this ever makes sense is if the display can "turn off" that section when the camera is in use, why must we suffer either a notch or a big stonking hole in one corner.
Phones are making less and less sense might as well get a tablet and get a display that hasn't been mangled, I swear we will look back at this era of displays the same way people look at pre-ripped jeans.

Okay wait, if this phone is available at $450 why would anyone buy A9 2018 which costs a $100 more for a lower grade SD660 Processor, thicker bezels and not too great cameras! Good but wierd pricing for the A8s!

The question is, who even wants a phone with a huge hole in it's screen.....
Also 450 bucks before taxes is not very good pricing.

Sensible pricing I would say!
Sammy badly needed it to compete with Chinese manufacturers.
I really think lack of amoled is the only drawback of this phone!
