I've worked QC and dev in quite a few large western, asian and middle eastern companies and the pressures and cultures to quality is the same. Only exceptions are the Japanese and German attitudes.

Contrary to what they tell people, most devices don't get tested in the lab.
And even so, its up to the Shift Manager and they usually take a biased approach and take the seemingly best looking one for testing. And instead of testing each hundredth device, they are more akin to testing each tenth thousandth. This makes the QC of the batch rather low quality, as expectedly, more and more lemons go through.
Not to mention, that the Shift Manager is usually pressured by the Factory Manager to reduce the rates of defective units at all costs. So this means, when devices fail a test, and that entire ten-thousand batch needs to be recalled and destroyed (or at the least refurbished). They instead resort to smudging the test run, and calling it a "narrow pass" or to pause and switch the unit for another one which does pass, and green light the entire batch regardless.
My day job is related to this, and there definitely is a cultural difference (East vs West) when it comes to Quality Assurance and Control. I take a purely Scientific Method, and even if it causes a loss of batch, or delays, and causes my Manager to be upset and not give me any bonuses or raises, I still do it because that is job well-done and is the ethical thing to do.
This testing lab by Honor/Huawei is most used when testing prototypes, rather than QC as you've alluded to in the closing paragraph. If you want to be impressed, check out the old Nokia testing labs at Espoo, these guys were masters in their craft.

I don't want any Honor articles, enough! I only want to know if the Honor V20 has Micro SD slot or not, to hell with all the marketing gimmick articles.
