The Nokia 8.1 uses NEG Dinorex instead of Gorilla Glass

02 January 2019
While not as popular as Corning, NEG has supplied the strengthened glass for a bunch of phones, including the new nubia Red Magic Mars.

Awtz, always stick to the creators of strengthened glass and that's Corning. Back in 1960's, they invented that kind of glass but it's too expensive and way ahead of the time for that. Jumping to 2006 - 2008, Apple contacted Corning to revive that project thus Gorilla Glass is reborn and has become the de facto staple on smartphone glass.

Welp, that's all based on my stock knowledge.

If this Dinorex scratches less at level 6 and smaller grooves at level 7 than Corning's GG 5 and GG 6, it would be great.

I don't know if it's only me or anyone else but if I hear about everything products made of Japan, I can only imagine a good quality of products.

And the difference is? Let me guess. Exactly the same quality? Just another brand.

more of the same...strengthened glass doesn't need GG branding.
