What Nokia need is a worldwide success in the level of Galaxy S II or the iPhone 4S. The Lumia 800 isn't the hero Nokia needs to stay alive.

Take into consideration that KPN is selling the Lumia 800 for FREE on a 2 year contract. The monthly is also discounted to € 18.75 per month.

I highly doubt that the Lumia will sell great if it wasn't for these huge discounts. It's pathetic that a newly released phone like the Lumia 800 needs these discounts to sell.

Oh so ur gonna have a huge party and you will be inviting all of them. Pls, that just shows how empty you are from the inside.

The nokia lumia is already outselling the iphone 4s in some countries so u can be pretty sure it will increase. How can be so sure is not enough?

Apple devices are sold at way higher prices than it should be but I dont see you complaining.

Nokia is hemorrhaging huge amount of money and that's why they are selling Vertu. The Lumia 800 may be selling okay but the question is, is it enough? I'm willing to bet that the answer is a big NO.

MdN, 08 Dec 2011So? It just means more people can get good phones for cheap... moreIf there's a company ripping people off then it is Nokia.

How dare they sell the Lumia at a steep price like a top of the line phone? It's a mid-tier phone with a mid-tier internals and it's being sold at top tier prices.

It's like selling more phones and still losing money. That says a lot about the mismanaged and rotten company known as Nokia.

Samsung sells a lot of phones too but they are making a lot of profits while Nokia gets negative profits.

Investors are really losing confidence in nokia.

Elop is killing Nokia's Identity 1 by 1... First Killed MeeGo, then Symbian.. Now Vertu.. Sad to see Nokia being ruled by bad leaders :(
Why can't Nokia continue selling smartphones with MeeGo , Symbian(Belle is really good) and Windows Phone alongside.. let people decide which OS they want..And its true that Nokia users surely hesitate to buy a Windows phone which doesn't support Mass Storage mode.. Hoping to see Nokia rule the smartphone world again!

iPhone 4S is bullshit .... after all its a apple product.
Nokia is just got bad leaders when the competition started getting tougher and acted little late on it. Unfortunate that it is struggling now ... just hoping that they get back to top soon.
Good move will be ... get back meego as 2nd smartphone OS and launch N9 in countries where it was not launched and slash its price.
Losing hopes on N9 was another biggest mistake. Such a hard effort and so unique and fresh UI/OS. Should have worked on that b4 dropping it.

Nokia's leadership is still very much afraid that the Windows project will fail....If the news presented by Arena is true, this is an act of desperation from Nokia....Vertu will never run out of costumers, same as Cartier,Rolex,Ferrari .......you name it.....But Nokia have placed all of their fortunes on Windows, and if they fail having almoast abandoned Symbian and killed Meego they would be in a tragic situation....So now they are ready to sell an asset that brings steady income every year, just to invest in their project....! Only time will tell if they are right....!

Wow!! Unbelievable troll!! Ok lets understand that its a strategic move to make sure that Finns focus on/improve what they are best at............viz.....selling phones.
Also I believe if Vertu is bought by some private entity rather than the usual players the phone can be marketed with an exclusive sales channel....& there are lot of rich farts around to throw money around and not care a damn..coz vertu definately is a signature device.
To such people what matters is the bling...the sheer extravagance...& the elite craftsmanship thats amply displayed in every vertu made under the sun.
Nokia also must have weighed the pros & cons...& if the money that they hope to generate from the spin-off is going to be channeled for R&D of smartphones then thats very positive. People react as if we are on the brink of universe explosion with no other options other than Android & IOS........really immature!!!
